Are there any companies that hire rookies that don’t run nyc?

My dad started in trucking with NAVL, general freight. He had a single axle GMC Jimmy cabover. I've got PTSD from that truck and I just went on 2-5 trips.

Bro...WHAT?!! Finally, someone who understands. At least with NYC, you know what you're getting. Mind you, much of it depends on what segment you're in (van/flat/tank/OD), but for the most part, at least in my experience, there's only a certain few places you can even get to with a full 53-footer, much less get out of. Plus, NYC has the trucker map, and more often than not, if you do get stuck, a couple people if not NYPD itself may come out and help out.

With Pittsburgh (and true, same with NYC, too), you better know a/ exactly where you're going, b/ exactly how to get there, and c/ at least three other ways to get there because at any point in time, your route is detoured due to road construction, a closed bridge or tunnel, or a road done gave way, or something. Oh and then there's the low clearances and ungodly amount of one-way routes. And all that's before we even get into the stupid-steep hills and slopes you have to contend with in parts, along with the narrow-behind streets. Oh and...ain't nobody finna help you out with NOTHING. All that was bad enough living there as a normal resident, but then going back up in there as a trucker? Mannn...that'll test your nads quick.
