a company called Roadrunner Trucking out of Albuquerque pulling a flatbed. Always had plenty of miles, always got paid right. The dispatchers always had all the info you needed, never had to call back and wait on hold.
Then one day I was at the terminal on my way to the shower room and the Safety Director comes in and his face was white as a ghost. I said " I don't really want to know". He said " guess how much this time" "don't tell me" "4 million" "I better take a shower before they turn the water off, #### rookies." -
I used to work for them back in 87-89. Had our terminal at the truckstop that isnt there anymore at 680 & I80 in Cordelia, Ca. I just went by there a few weeks ago, and its been completely leveled!! There was a Bennett Motor Express terminal there too. I still have my black Roadrunner Trucking jacket..LOL!!

Is this also Road Runner out of El Paso TX which was their van division and turned into RDSI when, time warner cable bought the rights to using the RR for their company. The same Road Runner that used to be called the Skinny Chickens?
-
Yes it is!! I dispatched long haul, i never worked with the van division..

Sorry for draggin' up an old thread.
I drove for them in the early 90's. I run the flatbeds', I was their 3rd Driver of the Month & promptly quit. Fell in lust with a ####tail waitress @ Jubitz Truck Stop.
I hired on from that northern Ca. terminal & was out of Dallas. Remember Alice in Dallas?
I run myself into the ground & burnt myself out. My fleet manager EJ loved me. -
I was out in portland in those years, knew several roadrunner people, got along great with all of them too.. I had the same problem with Jubitz women too LOL But sure had a lot of fun!!!

I built Roadrunner facilities in Albuquerque and Kingman AZ. Jeff Martin was President, Sold out some Volvo Dealer out of Salt Lake City and Jack Willman became President. Jack asked me to do a portable shop for him in Kingman, AZ near the then Northstar rebar plant. Road runner was hauling for them. Trying to locate dispatchers or drivers who may have a good enough memory to remember address or location. Call me at 303.660.8877 or email @albq.com.Last edited: Apr 15, 2013

Worked there from 1987-1999, flatbed division and border fleet that ran out of border steel in El Paso. Good company and met a lot of good people while working there.
Northern Nomad Thanks this.
