I guess you don't realize that a trucker picking up or delivering a load to a location with striking workers isn't a "scab"...a "scab" is someone working in the place of the union worker...

Like I said, I sympathize with the plight of the strikers.
I don't begrudge any one for how they choose to earn a living, union or not.
But if your gonna get in my way for how I earn a living, than we are gonna have a problem.
Walleye, I have too much respect for the Unions not to sympathize with strikers, but don't tell me that the members aren't the union.
The members vote to strike, so the union told them to strike. -
do the strikers job, but another for someone doing a job TOTALLY
unrelated to the strikers job...otherhalftw Thanks this. -

I'm not crossing as a "scab", but I am crossing doing my job like twilight said unrelated to those who are striking.
Tell me what you think about this:
My local electric company was striking a while back. Was I wrong for paying my electric bill? Should I have supported the striking workers by keeping my money? I delivered a newspaper to the offices there. Should they have impeded my entry to the plant to deliver the paper?
Just so you know I delivered it and no one said spit to me. Then on the way out I tossed them a freebie. Guys were not jerks about anything and I showed them I appreciated it. However small... -
You still haven't answered brsims questions.
Nobody said you were in a union that I can see.
If a union wants to strike then that is their choice. But their rights end where mine begin.
I will indeed cross a picket line to do a job that is not related to the union in question. I've got a family to feed too and I care aobut my lifestyle just as much as the union member cares about their own.
I think the unions did a hell of a job back in the day, but I also think that most of them have quite frankly, outlived their usefullness.otherhalftw Thanks this. -

"When you cross that line you insult a man/woman trying to support his/her family." When a striker stops me from delivering my load he/she insults my family and I!
"Do they fire union drivers 1000 miles from home?"
No! Do they get rid of the driver that isn't pulling his weight or working as hard as the others?
Look I was a member of the union when I worked for Coca Cola. Really I don't know what they did for me, other than take dues from my check. I really don't think they protected me at all.
Like I said I'm crossing and if something happens because I delivered product to the place they are striking then so be it. If I'm assaulted I will defend myself.
I'm not disrespecting anyone by crossing when I am simply delivering product.
