Whether you are diagnosed with sleep apnea or not, and struggle with snoring and waking up a lot at night, you can try sleeping at an incline with pillows. Just take a few pillows and use them to prop you up at a slight angle while you sleep. It has helped me sleep much better. I don't even snore now. At least, that is what my wife tells me.

Well, ya know, I really appreciate all of your nasty comments. I could say a lot of derogatory things back to you about you not being bright enough or better educated enough that you have to turn to trying to belittle your fellow driver, and all, but, wait....... Did I misrepresent myself? No, just didn't tell you my full educational history.
The idiot that "diagnosed" my supposed sleep apnea isn't even a doctor. Put that in your pipe......... Unless you get a medical education and have 20 years of working in the medical field, you are talking from the standpoint that I am an uneducated 24 year old male that is just as dumb as dirt. YOU'RE WRONG! And since I wasn't diagnosed by a doctor, the company actually needs a medical prescription from a REAL doctor for them to offer me the CPAP and MY doctor doesn't want me using it until she can get our hospital do a proper and legal sleep study.
Grow up guys. -
There are real issues about how Sleep Docs get certified (typically online like correspondence school, ASAA--American Sleep Apnea Association), they argue between themselves about the diagnosing for $$ that goes on and that less than 30% with 'mild sleep apnea' respond to CPAP.
The 'outrageous fees' have led to HST (Home Sleep Testing) starting at $159/per by your local Doc (general practitioner) to replace SCT (Sleep Center Testing) up to $1,000-$1,500/night and lots of 'Sleep Specialists' are not neurologists.
It's a really serious matter if you really have it.
But the field is in turmoil and guilty of diagnosis abuse.

Victor V, thanks. There's also the fact that several truck companies own stock in the CPAP and the newly opened diagnostic clinics don't seem to have any medical training other than what the CPAP companies tell them. When I started talking medical terminology to them, they weren't able to give a response. Not even a meaningless, inappropriate one.

As for a sleep study being ridiculously priced ($1,000+)...keep in mind what goes into a REAL sleep study. The technician that's monitoring your sleep is making ~$20/hr x 6-8 hours, they're paying for your room, the equipment, etc. That's not even getting into the neurologist fee (again...assuming you're getting a REAL sleep study).

I'm currently in the same situation. No work will be dispatched to me if I do not sign the HIPPA release form and sign up to their 3rd Party CPAP monitor company. I was wondering if you seeked out legal assistance, did you give in, or did you agree to their terms? What advice would you recommend?
