All the other stuff isn't germane.
From the pictures you posted, it looks like there's plenty of space between getting the truck off the street and putting the trailer into the covered portion of the dock. Even if there wasn't, there's no shame in popping the brakes and walking the area before setting up. The issue was the metal bar that was hanging out.
If you have swing doors there’s no way to not hit that bar brother… not with where the dock plate is located.
