Must have been your unlucky day. Got there a few minutes after my load's ready time and it had been ready for a while. Is that Costco facility closed other than the stuff we pull out of there? Other than containers and the general freight haulers like us, I didn't see any Costco trailers up where we pick up.

Maybe, I kinda remember the first time I went it was ok but that was a few years ago I think.

God, even though the last few days have been good, picked up a 100lb load going from Oregon to Illinois, I still feel miserable. Im going to my brothers for Thanksgiving, after that probably won't be home again until after new years. I have a dentist and doctors appointment in October. Besides that, I was invited to my cousin's kids birthday party, another cousin's anniversary party, a friend invited me to a concert with her and another friend, and I want to see my dad. Probably not going to do any of them because I have to plan hometime out months in advance. Christ, I can't IMAGINE doing this godforsaken job with kids! Missing birthdays, holidays, school functions, games, etc. Im just in a mood.

The sad thing is, is that 5-6 days off for 28-30 days worked is considered "good" time off for OTR.

In comparison, everyone else is getting 8 days off for 20 days worked. The work life balance and pay is just not there for OTR truckload in 2025. You have to really love it to have a career in it your whole life (or even just 2 decades of your life).

I hope things get better for you. Every other OTR driver has felt the exact same emotions you're feeling right now, though that doesn't make it any easier on you when those types of thoughts start creeping in.

That's why when I was driving I missed so many times at home and family time I went to work for a LTL company. Home daily, off weekends, good money and benefits.

Delivery to Ontario went without a problem, got to pull an empty, almost new trailer...for less than 5 miles...to the Costco facility right down the road. The only trucks in there were 2 yard jockeys and a bunch of us general freight drivers dropping empties and getting our outbound loads picked up and scaled out. It was like watching ants scurry around after you kick over their ant hill. Whomever dropped the trailer my load was loaded on needs to be told that the 40' Cali mark goes to the center of the rear axle, they had it set to the center of the tandems like the 41' position. Managed to make it all the way to Littlefield, AZ to the new T/A Express. I have a grand total or 8 hrs on my 70 for Monday. I get back 8.5, 9, and 10.25 the next 3 days, so another 3000+ shouldn't be hard if the loads fall right.
