TDI will do preemployment drug and alcohol testing. It is apart of showing that you are ready to drive straight out of school.

TDI Sanford conducted a drug and alcohol test as part of there preemployment screening. Sadly I failed. That fail was uploaded to the Clearinghouse, which caused for me you have to go through the SAP program.

Ok that really is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of it makes 0 sense any body who hires you will have to drug test for pre employment they couldn’t even take a negative test from a school. Why the school didn’t stress the importance of being able to pass b4 they gave it is insane since the test means nothing to an employer

I agree. Man it wasn't even a "drug". I was taking CBD. Which they said was fine. I still got shafted. Hard lesson in never trusting packaging on item that says "CBD, No THC".

Every trucking school requires a pre-employment drug screen. Why would you take it if you knew you might fail?

@DaveOJ unfortunately CBD is not well regulated, and therefore when a manufacturer claims zero THC, which is the illegal substance tested for, they don't really have to prove it. They only need one batch, one time, to test at less than 0.03% THC, which also happens to be the cutoff threshold for a positive DOT drug screen. Sucks, but it is well known that those CBD products risk your career.

@Pepper24 As for the pre-employment at the CDL school, they are required to conduct pre-employment drug tests before letting you operate a CDL required vehicle on public roads. All reputable schools do the same thing. They have to treat you the same as any driver that would be hired by a regular trucking company.

Now, as for them reporting the positive test result to the Clearinghouse, did you already have your commercia learner's permit when you were tested or was the drug test prior to you obtaining your permit? Until you have a valid CLP, meaning you passed the knowledge exams and have the permit authorizing yo uto practice driving on the range and road, they cannot give you a DOT regulated drug test, and cannot report the results. If you had a CLP, then yes, they are required to report the results.

Thanks I never knew that. I guess it makes sense now you are operating a commercial vehicle
