I personally like the solid front axle, even if you break the universal at the wheel, it will usually jam up on itself and keep working. Those independent front jobs will have you stuck in two wheel drive at that point, that keeps me in the ford work truck. There is no stopping when it snows

 

My f-350 has a bit over 300k, the Chevy started falling apart (problems not stuff falling off) about 250ish, dodge work truck was the most miserable thing I have ever drove I will NOT put my money on the table for one, but tastes vary, as do results.

 

Stuck in 2 wheel if you can unlock the hubs.

 

The independents ride nice, but that’s not my concern with a work truck. Some days it’s all stick and no carrot. I have a similar truck to tramm01 just not as new. I don’t like how the solid axles like to bounce in different directions over washpan and potholey roads though
