Intermodal. You'll be plenty busy as road companies fail. Louisville is probably the busiest place for trucking. I leased my truck to a "power only" in Green Bay, and I did okay. Home every weekend, and 2-3 times during the week. Never had a check bounce, you'll see, the RR is going to be huge.warrior12345 Thanks this.

I think you need to clarify your posts with the years you did intermodal work as an owner operator because these days it has to be close to the bottom of the barrel as far as rates go. Just look at the equipment, other than company owned equipment, you see dragging containers down the road. It’s most junk that is falling apart.

I'm only trying to help, unlike you that never has anything nice to say. What do YOU suggest?

Why sugar coated ? Only stating the FACTS.Siinman, Long FLD and Pittstruck Thank this.

It must depend on the area of the country, because I can say from experience that you can do pretty well pulling intermodal if you know what you're doing. At least in the Eastern part of the US. Now I'm talking only about railyards. As far as ports go, I'm not too sure. For the past 6 years it's been a high profit with minimal miles, home daily operation for me. Heck I actually was able to upgrade my equipment while doing it.warrior12345 Thanks this.

Here in the Midwest it seems the companies, like TSL, have nice newer trucks and they seem to pull their own chassis a lot. But you also see some absolute junk coming out of the Chicago and KC area.Siinman and Pittstruck Thank this.

I would suggest getting away from dry van and looking into something somewhat specialized, especially since he’s wanting to lease on. Being in Bowling Green he’d be in a good area for pneumatic work like Bruce Oakley. Not sure if he has his hazmat but there would be propane and anhydrous in the area too.Siinman and warrior12345 Thank this.

Try automotive expedite. It is great in that area. It was best i ever done in trucking

I sold my last truck to a guy doing Intermodal and was doing fine I assume since I see the truck and know where the yard is that he parks it at. I haven't seen him in a few months but haven't really looked that much either. I pick up freight around that railway in Edgerton KS and pass him from time to time. He paid cash for that truck and came from Food Service company driver at top of the market. TSL always have nice equipment in KC and that yard is right down in that area as well.
