At least you have the option of real ID or not. In Florida you don’t have a choice..real id or you aren’t getting license..I’m guessing they treat all the non domiciled licenses the same way..one would think.

Lol, my wife has 5 names..her legal name.

When traveling it’s a big pia getting airline tickets because her full name doesn’t fit in the name box.

One of the licenses pictured expired in 2024. One of them was set to expire in a few days. They need to clean house at the carriers that had these drivers employed.

I also don’t think that someone here on a visa, regardless of how they entered and if they have one or eight names, should be able to get a real id given what the government says is the purpose of doing it.

Real ID is only for domestic flights and just went into affect in May 2025.

Passports are used for international flights and real ID is not acceptable.

    just a fwiw :)

The rationale for the real id is that it establishes minimum security standards..

Don’t know what the reason is that you believe the government did it…

I know the reason they did it. But we as citizens had to jump through hoops at renewal time and it’s supposed to be for security but someone here on a work visa is issued one? Shouldn’t a foreign citizen be required to carry their passport to board flights or even travel in this country?

You know what I noticed - two of them didn't have the names and id numbers blacked out. Which makes me question the competence/professionalism of the officers/officials involved or the legitimacy of the photo.

I've already stated my belief that if these arrests are both true and valid, Oklahoma should be revoking the permits of all the carriers involved and FMCSA should be doing an indepth audit. However neither of those things is happening, if they were I believe there would be press releases about it.

I'll also say I think the shipper should suffer some consequences if they allowed a driver to pick up a load with an expired license.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Wisconsin requires a REAL ID to enter Federal secure facilities, which is typically where USCIS offices are, so a REAL ID makes a lot of sense for someone showing up to monthly or quarterly check-ins.

More importantly, if they present the necessary proper documentation, what's the harm? REAL Id is about verifying a person's identity, beyond that it serves no purpose.

If you want to assume that all immigrants are presenting fake documents - okay. You've got no basis for that belief, but okay.

If you are basing the legitimacy of an ID on whether or not it conforms to western naming traditions, that is just plain wrong.

If the license is fake they wouldn’t need to black out the info. I doubt many shippers check ID. During the time I was leased to TraLo and FCC I had to show my license maybe a handful of times per year. The burden shouldn’t be put on shippers when the CDL shouldn’t have been issued in the first place.
