The key to driving on top of Hoover Dam, when trucks were allowed, was using your CB radio so 2 trucks didn't try to use the same hairpin turns at the same time. "Northbound 53 ft approaching the South hairpin", etc. It was a varsity moment.

I quickly learned that places for sightseeing and/or places friends recommend to eat are almost never truck friendly. If you can arrange parking, though, say during a 34-hour reset, there’s no reason not to take a bus, train, taxi, or Uber. A few of the best weekends in my life happened in New Orleans, for example (best place in the USA for food, drink, and music). You’ll definitely want to read up on places like that, don’t just show up with a silly grin on your face and money in your pocket.
I just used NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) as an example, you can do that almost anywhere. Interested in museums? Visit the Smithsonian in Washington, DC (which is actually several world class museums grouped together). Love musical theater? Broadway beckons in NYC. Etc, etc, etc.Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
