I went to work for Star Transportation out of Nashville and it was a joke
They told me that I would get home time when I wanted it but when you go out for a week and a half I never expected to be home for 5 days. I never got any miles and when I told them I was quitting and I needed to get their truck back to Nashville to turn it in they tried to dispatch me a load going to Texas to deliver the Monday after I was to start a new job.
I never got my last paycheck because I dropped their truck off at one of their other yards and didn't take it to Nashville. Beware of this company because thet are owned by Covanant Transport

If they issued you the truck in Nashville, they will expect it to be returned to Nashville. Check your DAC; seriously, they might try to put an abandoned equiptment on your DAC!

Star completely sucks these days. Nobody ever believes me these day when I tell them it used to be a decent place to work, at least before Covenant!

Really too bad. Star was a cool place when I was there....not perfect, but pretty decent. And what really makes it a shame (at least to me) is that there are a lot of really decent people who still work for Star.

It sure was different when Beth owned the company.

Yeah, but don't forget, it was Beth that sold it! As I understand it, she had just come thru chemotharapy and noboby else in the family wanted it. Covenant was drooling to aquire Star . . .

I had the best trainer in the world at Star, who had over 20+ years there at the time.

They can not put truck abandonment on my DAC because they refused to send me to Nashville. The company is a joke of its former self, they dont care about their drivers. I was dispatched on a load picked it up then when I was nearing atlanta they had me swap trailers with another driver that had to be in Miami the next morning I told them that I didnt have enough hours to do it I was told that if I didnt do it I would be shut down for 48 hours. Then when I did it I was wrote up for too many driving hours. Go figure

Yeah, they had a couple of veteran trainers there who were pretty good...really took time to work with you. Who did you train with, Hasbeen? He's a card!

I'll bet they had that truck seated within 24 hours after you quit. These companies don't care, they will throw another clueless soul in that truck while the seat is still warm. Unfortunately there are a lot of people in trucking that will take all kinds of crap just because they are happy to be there. Maybe they don't have family or any skills beyond truck driving and will accept anything just to be in the truck.
