nothing on mvr for last three years. Before three years ago some issues but by the time I’m able to pay for cdl school even more time without anything in mvr will have passed. I’m nervous about it! I really do want to do it / just hoping I’m smart enough and coordinated enough to learn how!! I watch videos online and it looks super difficult to learn to do.

i really do hope you’re right that somewhere will give me a chance. I would really hate to save up all of my money for cdl school and never be able to find a job. That would be absolutely awful. Just worried about the criminal convictions and poor work history. But I really do want to take the steps to fix my life. I feel like a disgrace working a fast food job at 43 years old.

as far as the tickets I am not sure as Ohio only shows the last three years when you pull your mvr from online. How far back do companies go? I tried to look this up online and I read three years I believe. No dui or anything. I think I’ve got a minor wreck somewhere over three years ago but I couldn’t tell you when that was.

and yes. Even though I screwed up with the police I absolutely love police. They are my personal heroes. So thank you for being a cop. I don’t doubt you made a difference.

as far as getting a grant - I did look into wioa grant as I would be eligible based on income, however wioa grants have been frozen. Luckily I have family I am able to stay with who understands I need to save the money for a car and school. They are very supportive of me getting training into a new and different field. Don’t know what I would do without them / which is why I know I need to get it together. Just though trucking would be a way to do that - I love driving and wouldn’t mind doing it every day all day long. A little nervous about gaining the coordination to drive and learning the mechanics of a pre check but I bet they teach all of that in school. Will just have to study hard!!! But it’s worth it to change my life. Tired of feeling like and being a total clown.

Your third last and second to last sentences hold the answers madam. Not one bit of shame working in fast food. Rise to the task , make it your best reference for your new job/career. Study hard , and change, you said it yourself, you’re halfway there already. Stick it out, you can do it. Best of luck

You can try CRST in June when you're off probation, if you don't mind running teams.
Not hiring for solo drivers right now; only teams.
Tell the recruiter you want to train for teams.
Criminal record is case-by-be case for each individual.

nothing on mvr for last three years. Going back any further I think there are some issues but I’ve already tried pulling my mvr and it only shows last three. I thought they only went back three years? No speeding tickets but I think a wreck on the five year and maybe a couple of other issues on a five year but I haven’t looked at my five year as it isn’t available online. Do they typically go back three or five years?

i am in Ohio, near Cincinnati. I would plan to attend butler tech, it is accredited. Do they go back three or five years on a driving history? Three years is completely clean, five not so much. Not sure what’s on five as it’s been a while since then. A wreck that i remember, I think missing a tail light and something else relating to the car being unsafe to drive but I can’t remember what it was. No speeedinf tickets - but that’s looking at a five year history. Three is completely clear.

I think they go back at least 5 years but can't quite remember. If you only have a couple of traffic violations and nothing serious it shouldn't be an issue. It would probably help though before you get started to call a several company recruiters to give you the confidence you need before putting in the time and money into a cdl school. You got to go with one of the starter companies. Also not sure why you think you wont qualify for company training, off the top of my head I know Roehl and Swift do that, give them a call. May trucking doesnt but its worth calling them, thats where I started. I can safely say they were OK. Its certainly not the best pay but you will get good experience there and its not a sham place like some of the other starter companies. My trainer is still there after 12 years.
Fast food is nothing to be ashamed of at all. I dropped and fried chicken, delivered pizzas, worked at BK, managed a Domino's, all before my LE career. Thats some hard work! I would think the grant thing will be unfrozen once these morons re open the government. Yes you have plenty of hope to get into trucking, its not a bed of roses by any means but it will open up a lot of doors for you with of course a lot of hard work.

if they do five years I might have some difficulty… I have a wreck for sure in the last five years, missing a tail light, and something about operating an unsafe vehicle. The wreck was minor, although I was at fault- I side swiped a truck on the highway. I know I have a ticket from missing a tail light and also for operating an unsafe vehicle or something like that. Those incidents would show on a five year, not a three. There could be other issues that I’m not remembering- I’m trying to remember if there is anything else but either I don’t remember it or that’s all there is on the five year. I thought they only went back three. Bummed if it’s more than that- feel like the minor wreck will be a problem. Completely clean mvr in last there though. No speeding tickets or dui or anything like that ever. I wonder if the minor wreck would completely keep me from driving.

I would think the employment issues would keep me from qualifying for the paid training. I don’t think any company would want to take a risk on me with those problems. I am open to trying to do that but I don’t think anyone would take a chance on me.

i feel stupid working fast food at 43- not a manager or anything just regular crew. But I don’t think anyone would give me a chance with the criminal record at the moment and I don’t have a car. So I just work what I can to try to save up to buy one.
