never hurts to try but I’ve worked in food service and these companies aren’t as desperate as you might think .IMO they wouldn’t touch this guy. He’s most likely going to have to take one of the 1099 jobs where the company is more desperate because there pool of drivers are more limited since most drivers with good records wouldn’t touch these companies

If Beer isn't specifically listed in your firing document, then don't mention it. I might just say something like, "non-compliance with company policy" vs "beer".

Gearjammin' Penguin, bryan21384 and JB7 Thank this. -
Tbh you’re looking hard in the face of a Chicago 1099 company and unfortunately Western Express maybe at the best.
Or hopefully a local with a couple trucks, that just needs a warm body in the seat can maybe take a shot with you. Just know that if you take a Chicago 1099 job, you WILL be treated like crap, you WILL most likely hate it there, but it’s work and that’s what you need right now.
If you do this, don’t let them pressure you into running without a break, because doing that and getting caught will finish your career.
Good luck driver…. You’re gonna need it. -
Do you think Western Express will take me? I'm willing to eat #### for 2 years. Apparently my charges can be removed after a year according to the secretary. I applied to Western Express yesterday and haven't heard anything yet through driver pulse.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
She was being responsible, the driver was not.
How many here would blame the cashier if that driver went on to drive and caused an accident that killed people, after she saw the driver drinking and said nothing?
Of course it would be after the fact and not as a preventive measure, right?
Are the people saying 'mind your own business' the same one's that are doing the drinking?201 Thanks this. -
That's true, and I read that a cashier is just as bound as a bartender when selling booze to someone. "Dram Shop Laws", I think it's called where the victims of drunk driving crashes can legally sue the person who sold them the booze. I think it was the cashiers business.

My 2 cents? If you are able bodied enough to do sysco, you are lucky and could work any kind of labor job to get by while you take a welding course or get on a construction crew. Or any number of jobs with opportunity to advance. Cdl is a highly regulated industry and as @lual says, we have to live clean and careful. Takes a lot of the fun out of being a regular guy.
If I could make this much without the damacles' hammer over my head I would for sure.
Just sayin'kemosabi49, lual and Lonesome Thank this. -
