Hi all, have a 07 Volvo VNL with Automatic Ultrashift, no crank after battery change, ran great before. Truck sat for several months, batteries got low, tried to charge/jump start etc. then replaced batteries to new ones, and now , dash lights turn on, but when trying to crank nothing. I jumped truck at starter solenoid and cranked up and runs fine. Then now I have a code reader and have cleared all, no codes on ECU only transmission, on transmission I have 3 codes; SID231 J1939 Data Link / FMI14 , PID168 / FMI 14 , and SID55 Clutch Actuator / FMI 7 system not responding. Any ideas? I changed all fuses in entire truck.

also, no power at the shift pad to show in neutral.

That sounds like you could have connected a wire in the wrong place?
Some of those had a solenoid between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid. They were on the left side of the engine plugged into a harness plug. Not nearly as large as I would expect and a common fail item. -
Your having the same trouble as am. Ive had a mechanic tell me its probably a software issue and will have to go to the dealership to get the software reloaded or updated. SInce you just changed out the batteries, make sure that both fuses are connected to positive terminal and the grounds are also connected. Make sure the fuses are good. I put new batteries in mine as well. No power to the shift controller, cant pull up transmission controls, says communication failure. Ive checked all the relays and fuses. I asked about this sometime back on this forum, maybe some new answers by now. If I dont find anything soon, Im going to have to take to the dealership.

Do you have a battery turn off switch? If so this might be the problem. I had a 2014 that had to be replaced and would not start the truck.

I may just send tcm to repair place, cheaper than dealer to diagnose and or repair. $200 if nothing is wrong or $500 to repair.

Also, my scan tool reads tcm and has two voltage points, one reads 11.5v and another 2.9v. Is that normal?

Here is the Eaton troubleshooting guide. It has a section where you check the voltage on the transmission controller and much more. Hopefully it tells you what you want to know voltage wise. I have not had the opportunity to do any troubleshooting on mine just yet. -
Check your wiring, seems it’s common for hole and corrosion. That’s what mine was, it’s fixed now. Unbolt TCM(a pain) check big red wire for power at unit. Then trace backwards. I ended up unwrapping the harness tape, and there it was, hole and corrosion on power wire.Ratt643 Thanks this.
