To go with the fuel thread, what’s everyone paying for DEF? How many miles to a gallon/tank? Do Def prices fluctuate like fuel?
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

I track DEF consumption by miles per gallon and get about 200 miles per gallon of DEF. Last truck was the same (2016 and 2021 models)

It's generally about 2% to 3% of diesel fuel consumption, or 1 gallon per 50-75 gallons of diesel fuel. Temps, idle, engine load can all raise or lower DEF consumption.

My blue 579 was an EPA21 engine and burned more DEF than the 2017 579 I had. I was right around 190mpg with it. I think the new stuff uses more DEF but regens less.

Bulk tote is the way to go for small fleet/owner operator if you have somewhere to store it, saving 3 bucks a gallon vs truck stop prices is great. We sit right around a dollar a gallon going that route.RushmoreTrucker, Gatordude, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.
