To go with the fuel thread, what’s everyone paying for DEF? How many miles to a gallon/tank? Do Def prices fluctuate like fuel?

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

$4.xx at the pump, cheaper by the fiver at tractor supply/
Idk about by the tank, but x15 seems about 200/1 fuel vs def

I track DEF consumption by miles per gallon and get about 200 miles per gallon of DEF. Last truck was the same (2016 and 2021 models)

abyliks, xsetra and Siinman Thank this.

It's generally about 2% to 3% of diesel fuel consumption, or 1 gallon per 50-75 gallons of diesel fuel. Temps, idle, engine load can all raise or lower DEF consumption.

abyliks and Long FLD Thank this.

My blue 579 was an EPA21 engine and burned more DEF than the 2017 579 I had. I was right around 190mpg with it. I think the new stuff uses more DEF but regens less.

    Oxbow and abyliks Thank this.

The older DD15's were around 250 mpg, new ones are around 200 mpg.

Bulk tote is the way to go for small fleet/owner operator if you have somewhere to store it, saving 3 bucks a gallon vs truck stop prices is great. We sit right around a dollar a gallon going that route.
