All it did today was rain, rain, and rain some more across IN, IL, and MO. I highly doubt the temperature ever got above 50 on my route

I am gonna bet on the lottery because I am on a lucky streak. Dropped my loaded trailer at the receiver, but no empties available. They offered to work me in and live unload me, but there many drivers in a line waiting for a door (that were already past their live unload appointment time) and there was a line of freight waiting to be put away before they could assign any doors to the waiting drivers. Plus, there were trucks down both sides of the street waiting for their appointment time. Bottom line, if I waited to live unload, I would have been there all day. So I dropped and headed to the yard, and wouldn't you know it, 1 clean empty that wasn't gladhand locked, and isn't due for any inspection or maintenance. It's true, a blind squirrel does find a nut once in a while.

Thinking about moving over to Crete from Roehl..tired of the inconsistencies in pay/miles. Tired of the lack of respect from planners and the endless excuses on why they can't get me home on time. Im just over 15 months solo with no accidents/tickets. I live an hour south of Kc and would like to be able to get out west some. Would Crete be a good fit? How is driving for them these days? Everything im reading is from a year or more ago

This load to TX went to ####. Load appointment was for 00:30 on a Sunday morning. Got in the gate around midnight. When I went to check in, they hadn't given me the right load info. Spent, or should I say wasted, the next 35 minutes on the phone with Lincoln and nobody could come up with an appointment confirmation number, so I had to leave. The CSR went thru all the emails they had access to, but no number they had worked. So they emailed the shipper about it, but the shipper doesn't have anyone in that office that early on a Sunday morning. So now the load will have to be rescheduled. And, overnight Ops won't make a decision about what to do, so here I sit on the side of the customer's road. Maybe morning Ops can decide. While it's rare that Shaffer doesn't provide you with the right numbers (usually you get way more numbers than you need), when one comes up missing, it usually happens at the worst time. The load wasn't that productive per day anyway, but with a holiday coming up, I wasn't gonna be too picky...but now a holiday shortened week is gonna be even less productive.

Detention or layover won't make up for the lost miles since overnights won't make a decision to pull me off the load and get me moving on something else before my 14 (and my eyelids) close. I morphed my sleep schedule to fit picking up and running vampire for a load, now I may have to abruptly change back when day shift comes in. This month is happening the same way September did. Had a stellar start only to fizzle. Makes a good recruiting pitch (not).
