I don’t do online banking, but I get a signed paycheck every friday too. It’s a necessary evil though to be an owner op today.

Many out there keep saying and praising the trucking business. I remember a couple years ago a few ganging up on me sayings I am wrong, I have short comings, a whole bag of b.s. because everything to date I mentioned has come to pass and amplified even more. By any carrier being down $13,254.00 then now ownojg mechanics (another set of con artists, with ripoff schemes in truckings who's rates went from $140/hr to now $200/hr shop rate) will bleed any business dry. Now, your business is in the red $1035. I too use to say, 'Ah No big deal, I'll use my retainer fund'. When that goes from $70k down to $4k in 10 monthly Becauae the freight market is still in a slump. 'I can simply pull out from my line of credit'. However, before you know if you're $2k, $5k then $10k in the hole (being in the red in this fragile inconsistent freight market) will bring anyone into bankrupty). Big numbers in big numbers out becomes a jungling act then brokers or other carriers who don't want to pay have to go on blast. Especially, in bad times the Scammers, Con artists, Schemers, Gypers etc.. run rampted as a majority. Anyone who cannot see this or oppose to this falls into that category trying to justify the b.s. or are simply morons.

Isn’t there still an option to call your bank daily and check the balance?
Before online banking I was taught to do that once a day or every other to reconcile what had been paid and to check for returned checks. That way I wouldn’t just assume every check cleared and get myself in a bind. -
There is, at least with my bank, and I do that frequently to see if the money I deposited to cover a check posted before I deliver the check.
I don’t write that many checks either though. I only pay bills that way, so not much need to go through the whole balancing the checkbook thing.
I’d imagine it’s common practice for an owner op to have a lot more money still outstanding at any given time. -
Absolutely. It wasn’t uncommon for checks to come in the mail and my wife deposit them. 1 in 10 would always have rubber edges. You couldn’t be mad really as they always made it right or usually back then. I miss what it was and ain’t crazy bout what it’s becomeMACK E-6 Thanks this.
