Yea ive been pulled in by these guys a few times. I typically keep a runout under my trailer as a spare to limp me in if needed and their system has pinged me for illegal tires a few times.

Nothing wrong with thay as longas your spare is a legal tire.

When running back to Socal from the Vegas(Mercury) area. I dont go thru any scales. Not that its a problem, but if you can go around. I kind of like Parumph & Death Valley.
Concorde Thanks this. -
Never said there was something wrong. I keep my rig as legal and tight as is posible for a 600K unit. Still doesnt make a 2 hour delay to a random inspection because your legal if scabby spare flagged you any less annoying.Concorde Thanks this.
-
Agreeed your spare should have nothing to do with a inspection. i have worked for carriers that require you to return tire failures back to the yard, So we would be carring sometimes just sidewalls.

They’ve been using this for at least 6-7 years now in Virginia, long before this AI crap started.

I don't know but I think that really is a good thing, especially if they just give you a warning. I check them every day before starting and during the day as well, but I would sure like to know if one is low or has gone flat since my last check.Big Road Skateboard and Concorde Thank this.

Or it starts to flow the wrong way.bryan21384 Thanks this.

Happened to us a couple of weeks ago. Truck was fine leaving the farm, fine crossing the scale at Inkom, but by the time he made it to the new scale by Burley, had a low tire. Red lighted, warning, and the tire guy was working the scale on the other side of the freeway, so not too much of a delay getting a patch put on. Sure beats buying a new, over priced mis-matched tire, and fixing the fenders and a couple of cross members....BlackjackCo and Oxbow Thank this.

Yep. Nice guy at the Sheridan scale came out to let me know I had a low tire on my truck last year. He just told me to swing around and air it up.
I told him with that new tech, drivers won't even be checking tires anymore. They'll just swing through the coop for a checkup.
