I've been down to -35 with no issues. My first below 10* driving and I stopped and filled with anti gel.

I started feeling my tanks when I was in the crazy cold and they've always been pretty warm to the touch.

I haven’t used any anti gel since, and just don't shut it off below 10* when I'm working.

Like Elmer said our B models return very little fuel, Cat filters are pretty fine on the microns, and our trucks will sit for longer periods of time, so we try to keep our fuel doctored a bit.

Our suppliers usually keep up with additives too for winter fuel, but you never know for sure.

Having been caught with my knickers down and dealing with trucks and equipment gelled up on numerous occasions, the saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" rings true to me.

I had those on my blue pete 386 , and that was always my thought too. I remember having to replace the hose to the drivers side tank more than once when it got to leaking. Just more crap to fix when it breaks. I mean i guess it was nice that i never had to worry about gelling up even in the coldest weather

First morning it's been cold enough for a cold start since the overhaul. Glad I went with the 16.5:1 pistons over the 15:1.

Virtually no smoke on start up. Fixin to load for Telluride and see how it runs.

I understand that for sure. If I had a truck gonna set up n there, I'd do the same.

Interesting enough, we have a local foodservice co we used to do a lot of work for, and my son still does.

5 or 6 years ago we had a cold snap down to -10, and below zero for almost 3 days. I treated every one of their trucks with anti gel, and ran them all for about an hour to circulate it. All of those trucks still gelled.

Same thing happened last year except they supposedly treated them theirselves.

Maybe not enough anti gel, or junk anti gel, but I treated the first ones according to the bottle.

My brown truck has the fuel tank heaters.

My black truck does not. January of 24 we’re on the exit at Presho South Dakota. I have my map gas torch lit laying on the elbow coming out of the bottom of the tank. The water in the fuel froze it was not gelled any way Doc slips out between the drives and trees something I hear a guy oh #### dog. Without moving I holler you’ll be fine till I tell him different. So I hear another guy say I’m officer so and so with South Dakota state police I’d feel better if you go ahead and tell him we’re friendlys. So I get out tell em the situation we had been there long enough we were cold so while the torch was melting the ice in the elbow they let us sit in the back of the patrol car. After bout 10 minutes I pulled the hose to drain the water and some fuel spun filters on and we shagged ###. It took a second for me to realize what was happening. They thought I was nuts for throwing a torch on it. It wasn’t no #### good like it was that’s for sure.

We were blending #1 but i somehow missed a bad fuel cap letting water in

Would take odds that any man born on a farm and age 70+ would know that.
What do you think about ole Cyrus (McCormick) of Farmall fame?

Pretty intelligent man, came up with the reaper before Deere did the plow, but not really in production till afterwards if memory serves me.

McCormick, Deere, & Case were all 3 big innovaters of agriculture equipment during the 1800’s, guess we can be thankful to all of them….
