If on a two lane use the crown of the road to your advantage. If wind is hitting your right side stay in the right lane..if hitting from the left, use the left lane. Typically a two lane should have a 6 degree total slope from one side to the other..3% per side.
This theory of mine leans the trailer into the wind giving a slight edge.. Of course if you’re at the point of doing this it should be only until the next off ramp

What effects do the trailer skirts have by reducing the airflow under the trailer?
Rideandrepair, Concorde, TheLoadOut and 1 other person Thank this. -
Initially they should be a help in reducing induced roll because they're below the center of gravity. But they'll increase yaw because it's giving wind more surface area to push on. But once the trailer starts to tip, they're gonna catch a lot more air.Rideandrepair and Concorde Thank this.

Went from Detroit to Rochester NY last week. 6k in the nose. Ran Rt.2 to 90. 50 mph south wind gusts. Had 12k, on 3/4 full trailer with 55 mph gusts and snow on the way back. Luckily the wind shifted from south to east. Barely felt it. Just pushed me home. lol. No doubt the most stressful run I’ve done in years. I worry about a rouge gust, unlike the occasional rouge waves in the Great Lakes. Can’t see it coming. Nerve racking trip.

If the wind is pushing me out of the lane, then I no longer have control of the vehicle. The wind does.
I could think well, maybe it was a one time thing and think I could keep going. But I don’t.Time to shutter down.
I’m getting pay for shutting down anyway.Rideandrepair, hope not dumb twucker, Concorde and 1 other person Thank this. -
I watched a longer version of that video. The trooper on the shoulder reverses back to him, climbs on the passenger step and asks how heavy he is. The reply was “I’m empty”.wulfman75, Rideandrepair, Hammer166 and 3 others Thank this.

If you decide to get off road due to wind, but can’t find a block.Would lowering landing gear help,or hurt?
