How to adjust injection pump on a small cam cummins

    In my experience the slow return to idle is often caused by air in the fuel….think suction side small leak or possibly injectors need adjusting and are letting a small amount of compression into the fuel rail.
    I assume you already checked this but is the throttle rod preventing the pump lever fully returning to idle
    This would match very closely to your symptoms and it doesn’t take much

    I’ve noticed the difference in big and small cam pumps have different adjustment screws so on the small cam behind the bell shaped cover is the idle screw at the end of the shaft, is that correct
