I'm at 794,000 miles now. My onebox will need replacing soon. Trying to find low cost solution. Haven't found any solution other than replacing entire unit.
Recode the cascadia onebox? (refurbish the onebox?) aftermarket solutions to fix the onebox?

Why do you need to replace it at 184,000 miles? Shouldn’t even be ready for a filter replacement yet.
but for $5500 you can remove the one box. So that is the route I will take. But at 500k I’ve relatively little trouble from it.Diesel Dave, Razororange and cascadia4life Thank this. -
How much are they asking for such service?

Posted wrong mileage. I'm at 794,000
I have replaced all parts of the EGR system. All sensors and bolt on parts to prolong life of the onebox. The last check mechanic said the efficiency was still good. Not sure what that means for the practical life of the onebox.
I won't neuter the system. Too many stories about the motor getting damaged without proper software updates. Plus the problem of getting repairs on the road.cascadia4life and ElmerFudpucker Thank this. -
As long as the system has been maintained and it sounds like it has. I think you have at least another 400k before you need to replace the box.

Mine is not a one box since it’s a Pete, but several technicians had mentioned on here that on the “average” the life on those are around 20,000 hours and/or 700k miles. I had around both hours and miles when mine had to be replaced. The DPF was plugged and then “Burner” was to far back(couldn’t get the element hot enough)DOC.

lol... could that possibly be because the Peterbilt boys, almost all of them idle 24/7? even tough they are pissing out 4k$ in diesel fuel a year and they could instead get an APU but that would be gay?

I bought the truck in 2020, paid $22,500 for it. It was flawless. I’ve posted plenty of pictures in the flatbed section. For that priced I paid for it, I could’ve dropped a new crate motor and still be ahead if needed it. The truck is a 2014, it had a 2016 Recon motor in it. So it actually has less miles on the engine then what the odometer is registering. So whoever drove the truck prior, I don’t have a clue how there habits were. I for one run local and I’m home every evening and weekends. I never let the truck idle, and if I do, I kick up the idle. And just to make your day a little better, you couldn’t give me a Crapcadia for free. I’ve own and driven trucks for 45 years and never once have I’ve step in a one of those, they absolutely have “No Class” at all.

LOL it's just a misunderstood truck. But yes, they do have a completly different driving style than PB/KW. Maintenance is paramount as well, just like any german engine. Actually, the dd13-15, is the exact same engine as the MB OM 471-473 in Europe, just with different emissions. these engines are not known to drop linners, but after 1 million miles, valve recession is a problem in the cylinder heads. Just normal wear and tear.
