All I will offer is that on a newer truck with backordered parts the likelihood of an independent shop walking in and being able to get the part is close to zero.

When I had a recall for the shift stalk on my 2022 and it was backordered I couldn’t even pull strings at my local dealer and get on the list to get one because the truck had to be down to get on the list.

To the OP, plan of action depends on your finances. It’s doubtful the pricing on a rental truck would even make it worth the effort to get one. I had a truck that was down for 5 weeks back in 2021 for a def sensor and I just sat at home.

It's just a clutch, they should be able to get the correct one by using the vin. In a good independent shop that's a one day job.

While I would agree to a point, many dealers use the "backordered" to buy time, or put a customer off.

Backordered also doesn't mean the part isn't available, but that it isn’t available to the dealer from their supplier.

Dealers aren't going to look elsewhere for warranty parts, only their DC's or warehouses.

Does he have the Endurant or the Paccar? Or the older UltraShift? What are the differences between the manual clutch and one in an automated? I never had any issues with mine so didn’t bother to learn.

The dealer couldn’t even get the transmission down because they didn’t have the plate for my truck. Service said it was a huge transmission and a new model. They got the part number from the manufacturer of the transmission.

First. Get the part number. Second get your phone and start making calls to every dealer of that brand you can find in an expanding circle. Find the part and inform the shop about it. If they can not or will not buy it under warranty then you need to weigh the cost of being broke down for X weeks vs driving or getting it towed to an independant shop and fixed there.

If the part is truely on a back order.....well your pretty much boned and enjoy the suprise holiday as best you can.

That is what I’m doing. Thought it was going to be a few days, then thought it was going to be a week, then thought if I get luck before Christmas, and now I’m thinking if I get lucky it will be right after New Year’s.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

You would be surprised how much equipment out there that I have looked up, what I deem, are common parts only to find there are none in the system anywhere.
