They didn’t tell you to run it the rest of the way and lay down?

That costs more money and/or hurts THE METRICS. I thought TL had some screwy priorities, then I moved to LTL and learned there's something stupider than stepping over dollars to pick up dimes - stepping over dollars to pick up nothing.

Think missing gate to rework a pup to to squeeze on 23k, only to send the driver with one and an empty when there's another pup with 15K of 'non due freight' loaded - just to undo all that work because the 23k trailer couldn't scale. Or holding two drivers until their gates to send them both with one and an empty, because sending one with 2 empties and one with two loaded hurts their metrics, but paying an extra hour of delay doesn't. Or my personal favorite - trying to cram on one more bill that obviously won't fit, damaging it, then sending the driver with one and an empty.

Returning the freight to the originating center puts the blame/costs on the center that didn't send the meet driver. If the driver just goes through and lays down, all the 'costs' get put on his service center, so they'd rather bring the freight back. Even Kafka and Wodehouse working together couldn't match the absurdity.

I take it you work for Fedwrex. No other drivers anywhere use terminology like you used there. ;)

That sounds about right for the likes of FedWrex.

I will neither confirm nor deny, but it does seem I tend to work for companies whose color scheme doesn't rhyme. ;)

No they never did, and I offered. It probably had a lot to do with @gentleroger said. I too have not experienced such trucking-foolery as my time LTL’ing. One of my buddies met West Middlesex PA in Spiceland IN everyday and told me multiple times how him and his meet driver swapped empties. :sign3:
