Hello everyone. I want to keep my CDL but also work my own business locally. I'm sure some people will say oh that is too hard to find. All these companies want 70 hours a week out of you. Just wondering if anyone has a local job where they only work 2 or 3 days a week with set hours, or if anyone can recommend a good way to find one? Local job or where I would go out on a 1 or 2 day trip and come back. I just had enough years of living on the road and don't need to 100% anymore, but still want to keep a foot in the game type of thing.
Any recommendations for someone looking for part time trucking job ?

How many hours do you work at your other job? That will help determine what you can or can’t do in a truck.

Salt Lake City.
Probably look at temp services that hire CDL drivers.
Trillium is one of several. Also check other temp staffing agencies that hire CDL drivers.

I'm ok with 20 hrs a week in a truck if i can bang that out in 2 days but so far the companies I've seen advertise want full time or only a few hours a day, or they say on call. One day it is day shift then another day they call for the night shift. Can't plan anything

What did Trillium have to say?

I've seen intermodal companies hire drivers for weekend work only. -
Try Costco private fleet. They have part time openings.

You find a lot of people thinking you can get a part-time trucking gig. Good luck on that. They exist, but they are real rare. Usually given to full time guys looking to slow down before retiring.
Most trucking jobs are a job and a half, just to take home a decent paycheck. You got to invest a lot of money in a trucking operation and a driver just to be in this industry. Part time does not make sense unless you have already trained and hired that guy before.
Now seasonal, seasonal driving is different. However, Seasonal trucking jobs will likely disappear with the non-domiciled CDL rules like they are now. -
I can work 2 days a week or about 20 hours with a part-time trucking gig
