Roehl probably isn't hiring out of FL that far south.
Dot Transportation may (or may not) pay you a salary while you attend a nearby CDL school.
Dot has no partner CDL schools listed for South FL:
Schools
At present -- Dot is hiring only out of the Jacksonville area...check back, later.
If it's team driving that you really want -- you might as well also check out Benny Whitehead (they specialize in OTR reefer teams). Since you're a vet -- they may cut you some slack:
Trucking Company hiring new drivers, top paying, benefits & bonuses in all of the south east, based in Eufaula AL.
Best of luck!

South FL is a terrible place for trucking. Lots of trucking companies either don't hire from state of FL or only hire above I-4 in FL. FL just doesn't manufacture very much but sunburns. I lived there 7 years before I got into trucking. THERE IS NO TRUCK DRIVER SHORTAGE. THERE IS A TRUCKING RECESSION.

Do you have tanker endorsment? EVERYONE should. It's an easy endorsment and tanker is more of the gentlman's section of trucking if you can learn to drive like a tanker driver. The endorsement never expires and it is necessary for a lot of freight put into other trailers.lual Thanks this. -
Definitely check out DOT Foods as a start with training included.. They prioritize work/life balance and driver efficiency... I would consider the company to be a great start especially if I was under 25...you can make serious money with good home time... All The Best..
P.S.. team driving usually sucks... So hate to burst your bubble but that's the reality.. Just use your common sense and think about it...small space two dudes...extrapolate from thereLast edited: Jan 6, 2026 at 9:54 PM
Numb Thanks this. -
In case the OP thinks team driving is how to learn this job, almost every company that hires newbies will team you with a trainer for 6-8 weeks. That is enough to learn how to do this job.
