Thanks guys for all the well wishes, and welcomes...appreciate them:) I'll be going to the SAGE school, which is affiliated with the local
college here. Will be going as a "displaced" worker. On unemployment due to the economy from my old line of work (sales/marketing).

Lot of that going around... if you commit to truck driving, do yourself (or yourselves) a big ol' favor and get this book from www.bumper2bumpertruckbook.com , as it will undoubtedly help you and your partner in your new profession. Also, for future reference, many companies and company websites are listed under www.fleetdirectory.com (scroll downward under each state heading), while trucking jobs can also be found in the "Transport" column of Craigslist, although these ads tend to be geared toward experienced drivers. Good luck with your new career!!! You'll probably find it far more interesting than your last position. "Adios!" :Navigator:

I am still waiting to see if funding comes through for school at Sage. I should know next week. In the meantime have been reading the CDL book, and taking the practice tests at crist.com and another site.
I plan to have the permit part (except hazmat) before school starts. I understand that will give me 2-3 more days in the truck at Sage, since I won't have to study for permits then.
I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get with the driving part!
I recently talked to a recent Sage graduate (from the school I will attend), who rated them very highly, he said he had 5 offers after graduation, but went with a small company here in Fl. That co. hired him because he was a Sage grad.
I posted another thread asking drivers for the companies who give the most consistant/best miles ...looking forward to the answers there.
