1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Researching schools and companies right now. I would like to get a union job. Are there any union companies that offer training and that would hire out of school. I live in Indiana close to Indianapolis and Dayton Ohio. Thanks for any info.

Stop in to your nearest Teamsters Union Hall and see if you can talk to a Business agent,...

Your on the right path. With trucking, Union is the best way to go by far. Sure there might be a few good non-union companies but thats it ... a few. I would start looking into garbage and construction driving jobs, most are daytime hours and M-F.

Might have to start out on a dock, if anyone's hiring in your area. It's seems a whole different route than the school/OTR approach, though.

see about the Redi-Mix trucks in your area. Its slow in the winter, but unemployment beats sitting in the back of a swift truck waiting for a load!

The only people who are going to hire you out of school are Swift, Werner, Stevens Transport, and maybe England. There's probably a few others, but they all are pretty much poured out of the same crappy mold. But, that's where you gotta start. Get a year or two under your belt, then start putting in applications at ABF, Old Dominion, and the other unionized LTL companies. They generally don't hire drivers fresh out of school.

    Lies, Lies,.And more Lies!!!!,.....

There is absolutely no reason to subject yourself to working for scumbad companies like that!!

There are lot's of good Union jobs out there if you look hard and really want them,...Most never advertise for help, They don't need to,...

Most wholesale distribution companies (beer, soda, liquor, food, ext..) are much more likely to be concerned with your customer service skills than your driving experience,...

It's easier to teach someone to drive than it is to teach someone customer service/sales skills,...

Stop into your local Teamsters Union Hall and talk to a BA and see if they know who might be hiring,......Find the local companies you want to work for and apply,.....If you don't show them that you want the job they wont hire you,....
