Chance go to TN Tech in Nashville. That's where I went. $1400 You can get $600 from the lotto fund and maybe Obama will pay the rest. Obama paid 100% of mine. I got fired from Lowes on Charlotte Pike in West Nashville.

Yes we had a stupid cheer...................:biggrin_2559:

    Hey Rug,

I went and visited that school and talked to Wanda, Moneys tight right now and the Millis training option looks good, but I am definitely going to go to Nashville Tech if the Millis thing doesnt work out. I think it was you that told me about it on this forum..Wanda thanks You for the good words !

Hubby is due to turn in his truck on the 20th and on the 24st we go to Hogan's orientation so we can drive team. Wish things were different but miles have been low for him for the past 2 months so financially we couldn't wait until Sept for me to reapply. Have nothing bad to say about Schneider.

ChanceMasters: Good luck in your journey into the trucking industry. You won't know what it's really like until you actually hit the road for yourself. Read everything you can and do as much research on all the companies you can so you can make the best decision for yourself. My dad was a truck driver and my brother is as well. He really likes it. I have had a desire to get behind the wheel for several years. Lord willing I will be headed that way by the end of June or July. Sorry for rambling on. Welcome to the forum as well.

    Hey Chance, check your PM's.

Only from what I've heard from a Millis driver, they don't seem that bad. He had nothing bad to say, but he appeared to have a good attitude as well. Attitude is 90% in this business.
I could be entirely off of centre on this, but have you called SNI to be sure about the CDL classes? I do know, as well as yourself, that SNI is hiring inexperienced drivers again. IMHO, they might just start up the CDL program. Please don't take that as fact, it's only my thought, and it could be entirely wrong.

Oh the mallwart thing, that's a sure fire way to make me become nearly incoherent. Would you believe my fingers were starting to spit when I typed all that??!!:biggrin_2559:

Good luck and stay safe whoever you wind up with, sounds like you're ready for an improvement.:biggrin_25525:

Wow! Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. I am still at Roehl, but don't have 3g and wifi is so hit & miss out here. When I get home I have other things to do.

Does your dispatcher actually take phone calls?

Chance, check in with the Workforce essentials in your county. They paid for my training. They may pay if you are "under employed." They pay you for your gas too.

Allow me, please. Yes, your DBL, will take your calls. The first few times, he/she will ask for your ID#. Doesn't take long for them to remember you by name, and they will address you that way. The only time I give my ID is when I leave a terminal with a truck, or when I call and get someone not familiar with me. Vast change from where I've been in the past.:biggrin_25525:

Oh, DBL is Driver Business Leader, sort of what a "dispatcher" would be.:biggrin_255:

Thanks for the kind words ! Yeah..to qoute someone else here "I've been around the block before..just not this particular block" I'm not naive enough to believe trucking will be days filled with mountain road sunrises and pretty truck stop waitresses, and fat paychecks ! I am definitely doing research and have convinced myself that there will be times and situations that no research will prepare me for.

I have a supportive long term significant other, no kids, no mortgage or car payment. I really loathe my job at Walmart..8 hours a day stuck alone in backroom..not seeing anything or conversing, or even helping anyone. So Im hoping truck driving will give me a few of the things I desire in a job, if I pay the dues !! Looking forward to bringing home more than 300 a week too.
