What is the best route from Phoenix, AZ to Portland, OR? I was initially thinking of going through California, but I'm not sure that is a good idea since I would have to go through both LA and Sacramento traffic. Also, I've heard there a lot of hills along this route. Perhaps going through Nevada is a better route? Less traffic, less hills? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That's kinda what I was thinking too.But I think at some point after you get off route 17, your on route 40 for a little while before you catch 89.I'd have to look it up to be sure..

I been throught there many times. It sure is beautiful, but desolate as all hell.

Yep, that'd be it! I like that Little America too. While it's not as good as the one in Wyoming, the food is just as good..

    Fantastic showers too..
