the only problem u would run into is installing the new bushings and reaming them.. u could remove the spindles and take them to a shop that can press bushings in and ream them out. if u have done wheel seals and tie rod ends u can do king pins..

If you have the tools, shop space and the time you can do anything. If not, kingpins are a big, labour intensive job, not really the best job for a DIYer. You don't have to go to a dealership. Any heavy spring shop will do where you can find some pretty cheap labour rates.

Don't use the nylon, unless your gonna sell it.. Gotta ask, what is your gvw? Is your dump truck a converted tractor with a 12,000 # front axle? I wouldnt think so with rubber block rear suspension but you never know... someone may have asked that already but i didnt see it when i reread this thread.. Reason I ask is , if you have a 12,000# and you haul heavy, plus those big tires your gonna wear king pins like crazy... Worn out king pins can cause a violent shake if they are bad enough... Good luck

i would suggest trying to find some bronze bushings, the twist type are destined to go bad quickly. I would suggest that if you wanna change the pins do it once and do it right with bronze because on the other ones the plastic will wear faster than the bronze.

Most dump trucks have 20,000# axles, or 22K#. If you have your VIN, you should be able to order with that alone!

At 61000 even if you had a 12k front and assuming the usual 48k rear 13k lift, I don't think you could overload the steer could you? Up here we run tri axles at 7000 to 73000. I have 20 front 13600 lift and 48 rears, when fully loaded at 70000 and steerable lift down i only cary around 14,000 on the front.. at 61000# I cant see overloading being a problem.. That was the reason I asked.. there were some guys up here runnin converted units with 12's up front at 70+ and would costantly destroy their front axles and springs.. i still cant belive they left the 12k springs up there... At 61000 do you need those big ole floats legaly? anyway good luck and hope ya get er fixed soon... for good

no i dont have to have the big floats but thats the way the truck was spec...i have gave alot of thought to putting 11/22.5 on it:biggrin_255: just dont know how it would ride with those little tires.....i do know i could replace 4 tires at once if i went with the 11/22.5 instead of the 425/65/22.5.....anyhow all the places i call around home dont have them or dont know if they are the bronze or not...ill call a freightliner dealer and see what they have or can get me....i got the part # from a local place 1312 is the 1 they gave me i cannt find it on the web except from india:biggrin_2559: didnt want to buy from way over there if i can get it here exsp. if its the wrong part....

hay guys i do a a new ???? for you i went out and greased my truck yest. and i did a few checks that i dont normally do... i jacked the front up and i took the grease fitting off the king pin and wiped the grease away and had my son pry up on the wheeel with a long bar and no movement in the pin anywhere. so i got under the truck and grabbed the long link that runs from side to side and i can move the bar like twist it and the 1 's that come down from the gear box aswell. now is this normal?????how can i check the ball joints??????the leafs are still intact and move slideing .also i need to find a place that well check the caster/chamber on this thing cause as heavyd said it should wear from the inside not the outside...i know that dumps take alot of abuse and the right get it the worst...i saw somewhere that 4 deg. of caster will cause it to do what my truck is doing...is that true....im sorry to keep bringing this back to the top, but trying to fix this thing
