Our hub guys at Estes that work the dock and run LH make great money, well over 100k. I prefer to do a turn or a laydown with no dockwork.

Our linehaul guys can also exceed $100K no problem with or without dockwork. Hard runners can reach $140K.

i don't like to overdo it when i run linehaul. On paper the numbers look great. My question to you is: How do you feel by wednesday night?

    I like my banker hours.

OT if you the people with kids, and a car note.

I feel fine by Wednesday, I sleep decent and eat right so I generally feel the same unless I’m sick which is rare.

i meant as a general question to all drivers: Linehaul sounds great on paper----very good pay and you're essentially "just driving around."

By Wednesday night i was usually willing to pass to less senior drivers and willing to take the night off.

That's why i switched back to city and that's the ONLY reason.

Just paid the government $1444, and I don’t qualify for “no tax on overtime”.

I’ll live, but day by day I find myself becoming that grumpy old man.

I ain’t working any overtime if I can help it, and I ain’t tipping anymore since tip workers don’t pay taxes on tips.

You must file single, have extra exemptions, or live in a pretty confiscatory State. Ideally you want to be dead even when it comes to filing season where you refund is $0. I don't think I got much back on my OT either. This whole new law must benefit the few that somehow work more hours than us.

I ran linehaul right after the military when I was 28 or 29 years old. I ran Tuesday thru Saturday (but I was allowed to start on my 10 on Saturdays and be back early enough to get a 2 & 1/2 day weekend each week). So usually I would be done 4 PM on Saturdays and have three nights off. I felt my work schedule was fairly balanced so by Thursday or Friday night I was still pretty charged up and ready to roll. It was great when you are married with no kids, and even greater when you are freshly divorced with still no kids. I didn't have much of a social life for about a year but I was bringing in about $80K working 55 hours a week.

I honestly could not see myself doing it again. I got kids, wife, and two dogs now. No way to get any sleep during the daytime and I would miss too much of their lives working overnight.
