Every time I’ve delivered to a Walmart dc it’s Atleast 3-4 hours minimum. That’s being on time. I can’t understand what takes any of these places so long.

I never had a problem with them when they took care if the lumper problem.
Had to split log once in order to make the 0530 appointment, made it with 10 minutes to spare, was unloaded within 30 minutes.

They weren't perfect. There was times I was there for 3, 4, or 5 hours but I did a lot of reefer loads into different DC's back then and that wasn't the norm in my experience. Not saying it doesn't or can't happen, obviously it does, maybe it's just luck.

You have to understand the warehouse they're human. And grocery ebbs and flows day to day week to week. Most times they can keep up with all the trucks coming in and then the ones also going out to the stores but sometimes there's a surge in demand for whatever reason. Happens at different times thru the year. Weather or holidays these things play a role in that.

So they might get behind when demand surges like that. Then there's delays receiving drivers delivering but also us drivers taking the freight to the stores get delayed. We have timelines too, a window delivery time which is nice but still. Frozen and dairy delivers to stores between 9am and midnight. Meat and produce delivers between 18:00 and 04:00. Anything before or after those windows is a service failure. Early is not good not even one minute early. Everything is by the schedule. Early inbound deliveries don't work there's nowhere to put your freight if you get there early. Your appointment is your spot. Has to be that way or it would just be chaos and much worse waiting around. That's why there's fines for early's, lates and possibly days long delays to reschedule.

After dealing with several different Kroger warehouses, and a Shamrock Foods warehouse, all of which took 10+ hours to unload me...I actually feel a sense of relief when I am sent to a Walmart DC for a live unload. I can remember years ago when it was a long ordeal to live unload at one, but now a days, most of my recent live unloads have been 2-4 hours at most. And the whole 'no lumper fee' has been a huge improvement, and should be a policy most corporate warehouses should implement.

It ain't shady man. It's just a pain to deal with any DC if you're late. You just gotta be on time. Plus, you gotta have foresight. If you think the appt times is unreasonable, let dispatch know ASAP, that way you don't get there and get turned away, or become a work in.
