Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

One thing you might want to think about is US Express uses only automatics (99% sure). Being a new driver you need to learn how to shift for future jobs. Just a suggestion, Good luck -
You got to call them. Most if not all companies are like this. Do not give up on them. Did you try LCT???
KHMULE CLIPPER Thanks this. -
OK heres the deal.... my bubble has been busted ... ill explain
10 years ago my son was living with me my ex wife still had me paying child support... so i had a decision to make pay her or feed my kid and keep a roof over his head i chose not to pay her... my DL was suspended in 2000 because of it... it took me until october 2008 to get all the back child support dropped and to obtain custody of my son...so for 8 years my DL was suspended because of failure to pay child support... no dui's, no drugs, no accidents just the child support issue... So to make a long story short NO ONE WILL HIRE ME because i have only had my DL back for about 1 1/2 years.... havnt been with my ex in 10 years and she is still screwing my life up... Dont know what im goin to do, everyone that calls me back asks me about the my DL being suspended i explain why and they tell me SORRY CANT HIRE YOU.... am i the only moron with a CDL that has had my DL suspended for child support ? i think not but what do i do... so pretty much the 3500 bucks i spent on my cdl and class was a waste of FREAKN money and time -
Well I would say that the school should have informed you of the walls that you would be up against with the license problems, but at the end of the day they're in the business of making money and that they did. I had the same problems when I went to school, I was 19 and limited to intrastate only, they said they would not help place me since I was not eligible for OTR, but this was back in 03 when the economy was still strong and I just beat on a few doors and landed a good local gig. Anyhow I feel for you man, it's not uncommon for people to have their license suspended over child support issues, the simplest mistake can cause that to happen. I really hope things work out for you, if you can find someone to give you a chance just take what's offered and knock out a few years with them, try the pinestraw companies over in branford, they might be able to work with your record, a lot of the smaller companies are going to be more lenient and undserstand things that are simply circumstancial.
The Challenger and MULE CLIPPER Thank this. -

I got my first local driving job thru a temp agency.
Try it out. Many local companys will hire that way, since they can try them out and only keep the ones they like. The Challenger Thanks this. -

How goes it Mule? I know you're thinking you're at the end of the road before you've even gotten started, but I'm telling you there is going to be something out there for you it just might take 110% on your part to find it, ever thought about getting on somewhere like Anderson Columbia as an equipment operator and moving up the ladder utilizing your CDL? What about just taking the dive and owning your own truck, I know people are going to call me crazy but it can be done, I had a good friend of mine get a CDL on his own, no schooling, no big money put out on it, bought himself a 94 single axle volvo and began hauling rock within a weeks time of obtaining his CDL, I'm not saying this is the smartest thing to do but it might present an opportunity for someone like yourself. There are smaller outfits around you that might be able to work you in somehow, he worked for a man operating a company under the name Hughes Trucking, he had a few company trucks and leased on most of his help. Just trying to throw out some useful hints, what about the wal mart dist. center in alachua, maybe a yard spotter position?
