no info anyone???
-
I applied to them today. I have zero recent information about them. I did talk to a Shaffer driver a couple of months ago, and he told me that Shaffer drivers occassionally pull Crete trailers to get into better load areas. That's all I got.
bluv37 Thanks this. -
Just here trying to get as much info as possible on Crete & Shaffer, so guys and gals keep the posts coming and be safe out there, thanks!!

You will do OK with Shaffer, avg about 2000-2500 wk miles, they will give you some short hauls, but just do them if you have time on logs, they will run you as maximum as they can with the 70 hr rule, may not get a reset in 4 weeks too. They will get you home when you request, only thing is that you have to contact your driver manager 10 days before to get home on time otherwise you will get lost in the "soup". Its a good company i would say, lots of hard work involved but the pay is much better than MOST other companies these days. Hang in there.
bluv37 Thanks this. -
So do or did you work for Shaffer?
-
yes i work for shaffer, if have been with them since december, its a good company to work for at this moment in time with the economy the way it is. you will get miles, but some of the runs will be short because of the cutback in long hauls, just take the short ones, even if you dont like them, then it will still add up to a good week in the long run. they will run you as much as they can with the 70hr rule. sometimes at hours you may not like too, like all night or whatever, if you need to get home on a specific date, make sure you contact your driver manager 10 days before so you can have a better chance of getting home on time. dispatch usually looks at whatever is on the board, but when the send you something that looks like you wont get home ontime, you can argue it with them to make sure you get home.bluv37 Thanks this.

i just applied with shaffer, finishing up at school soon. can't find much bad stuff about them on here and after talking to a girl today i'm even more excited. they sound great, pay is higher than any of the other companies i've researched for students. the only downside is 8 weeks out with a trainer as opposed to other companies being 4 or 6 weeks but the training pay is ok too. hopefully i get through their screening process

I was told buy a driver that the 8 weeks is do to the refer traing.

why would any driver hire on with a company that its ceo/pres. in the past has had an affair with a drivers wife? Thats who you will be working for if you hire on at Shaffer..Trust and Respect your leader...I think not
