That sucks!we don't even drive in Florida - it's just a place to park the truck, the flatbed rate is terrible here. Our IFTA always shows less than 300 miles here per quarter. Our registration costs us $1500.00! what a rip-off.

I'm in GA, and my 48 state plates are pretty close to that per year also, I think most all states are going to be the same at the IRP office.

Thanks for that info, i don't feel so bad now.

Now to get cheaper insurance. Right now we pay $7600, i'd like to get it down to the $4000 range. All we need is 1 mil liability, FL PIP, and $100,000 cargo. I'm calling lots of agents to see what's out there. I wish we could go direct with Northland because i get the feeling agents are taking different cuts. -
Quick question about insurance. I have heard that progressive is the only company that will offer new cdl drivers insurance w a 500 mile radius. Just as an example if im based in Atlanta and have a 500 mile radius i could drive to Tampa, FL w a load and then from Tampa i could take a load to Indianapolis and still be in my 500 mile radius?
-
As long as you're within your 500 mile radius of Atlanta. Best to check with Progressive to make certain though.

I was wondering has any of you ever checked to see how much it would cost to get insurance on someone with a DUI? I have been told it is costly. But I was wondering just how costly it is?
-
One more question on this subject. Is it true that if you list someone as a co-driver that the insurance companies are more lenient?

If you need to ask an agent free to ask me as I am in the unique position of being an agent and owning a small trucking company. The goal being to get out of insurance and owning a small trucking company full time. Northlands is owned by Travelers and access to them is through agents only - A majority of agents ( 98% ) get a 10% cut of the premium. The premium for my 2006 Freightliner and 04 Strick Dry Van is about $4871 out of Atlanta, GA. That includes Auto Liability, General Liability, Cargo, Physical Damage and that number inlcudes the cut that goes to the agency that I work for. There are many variables that go into the rating so feel free to ask if you have any questions.

depending if your going to be a local driver or 48 state... usually a policy with a CSL of $1,000,000 and depending on the the value of the truck and cargo limit.. and what exactly you will be transporting will determine the premium... i.e. $1,000,000 csl., a truck say worth $20k and cargo at $100k your looking at approximately $5500-$6500 but again it all depends on the value of the truck, your route, state based out of. etc.

isnt it just amazing how many people get a cut out of one policy,,insurance weather it be health, trucking, construction, homeowners or general bizness,,,is a ripoff, and a way to regulate you,,,,proggressive ,,,,,,yah there a deal
,500 mile radious,,???what are they thinking,if your gona run hell go for broke!!!! cause if you stay in a 500 mile radious, being o/o hope your equipments paid off,,,
,,or have a hell of a long term contract,,,cause i cant see with a 500 mile radious how you could afford fuel not let alone the truck
