Wish I knew Bean. Day of graduation everything was good and never heard back. Was supposed to go to orientation on may 3rd and they left me hangin. But TWT called and I never looked back. But def be persistent. The harder the job is to get the better. Werner approved me w/in 24 hrs... Never hurts to have a "worst case scenario" plan. But NCTDT is def paying off. In the first week I have had some interesting backing challenges and impressed my trainers. May seem like tedious BS in school but its really pays off. Any idea on what type of haulin caught yer interests?

My first preference would be flatbeds, or something with a physical aspect to it so I'm not just being a "steering wheel holder". I'd hate to think about what I'd look like if my only exercise was swingin' doors. The other flatbed co's I've looked at so far is Howard, McElroy, Roehl, and TMC.

Check maverick specialized. They run glass outta laurinburg. Think its 2 wks out but u'll be right # the house. If you don't mind being out I know of a small flat fleet outta lumberton.

I looked into Mav earlier, and they told me they weren't hiring anywhere east of Charlotte. I guess that could've changed since then. I would rather be somewhere that I can be home on the weekends, anyway. A wife and 6 month old daughter does that to a guy.
What's the name of that Lumberton fleet? -
I'll check into it for ya, Bean. But they are over-the-road... Like weeks at a time. And I have 2 boys (1yrs &2yrs) so I def understand. Also check out Builders Transpor (BTC). Cypress is another. Not the newest or nicest trucks but they sound like a decent comp. All were on my list and your sit sounds similar to mine. So when you're ready, apply to all. Do your apps about half way through class and then they are gonna wait for you to grad. Just stay on them. Best of luck and jus lemme know if I can help.

Mav is now offering $3000 for refering an experienced driver and $500 to the new driver. I'm in specialized and when I was doing 2 week runs I often only got home for a 34. Now I'm running 3 weeks and sometimes get past the house once or twice during that time, and then get home for 3 days. Starting in June we're getting 2 cpm raise.

I'm running resin to Bennettsville, sc to Flakeboard and see Mavs right regular. Wish yall the best but I am a happy as a 3-petered puppy with where I landed. Just goes to show you don't have to start with a driver mill.

Hey C-frawg, I must have had a mental malfunction when I read that post earlier about the Lumberton co. Didn't read that one right when you said it's an OTR company. Thanks for the help.

Beancounter, you might want to check out Howard Transport. They are a flatbed company. I think they have an terminal in Kenly. When you get into school talk to Van, he can give you some insight on them, and a few other companies also. By the time you graduate, you might want to try Tidewater also. They might be hire at the time.

Hey David, Howard was a company that I had tried to look into, there's just not a lot to look at on their website. Thanks for the contact for them. Good luck to you and Camo at TWT.
