Holy cow, Iv'e been in very deep thought this past 6 weeks. Finished Roadmaster, Went over to may today to do a road test. Unfortunately did not pass. I would like to blame this on Roadmaster for not giving even close to the amount of training I needed, or the fact that that I hopped in a truck with a different trans then I trained in to test. Not to mention a 53 ft. tailer vs. 48. Barely kissed a curb because there was a car in the way of my right hand turn. But in reality, It was my fault that I didnt wait for that car in the to go so I had room. REally wanted to go with May Trucking. So, in panic, I called Steven's Transport and set up orientation. But very detered after reading 99 percent negative posts on them. Werner seems to be the best bet now. I know I won't have it made in shade with any company until I pay my dues, but Werner seems to have far less complaints. I have a silly question for those who might know. If I already set up orientation with Stevens Transport, and I call to cancel with them to go with Werner instead, can that they put that on my DAC? Thanks to everybody with their helpful posts, It really helps a ton with decition making, and what to expect.
Werner is a good company

I started my driving with Werner...quit three times...But during my training ( I needed 4 different trainers) I met some intelligent hard working great drivers and great human beings..My first trainer was Keith ...what a guy..but he smoked and I quit him after 5 days...then I got Wayne Colby...he not only was a fine driver but he could sing...life was good in Wayne's world...after him I got a turd...quit him after about 3 days...finished with a quy named Peterson...another of the best......
I have only driven for Werner...am now looking to work for someone else but after 300,000 miles , 44 states and Canada...I don't have that much bad to say about Werner... -
I really am glad to see more posts on the good side of things. It sure does help us newbies out a lot. Being a professional as I am, I would hope people could talk good about things and not throw in the "screw you" bits. We all know the world is now a dog eat dog world and its a shame it has to be that way. I am liking this site more and more everyday. Hopefully we all can keep the truthful and friendships together on this site but, lets throw out the trash.
Just a bit about me,
I am 28 male. A perfessional in a few other fields but driving/trucking is in my blood. I am finally ready to come back home with my wife and she wants to ride with me as I drive and make our little money, see America and just be together. I hope to find a good trucking company that allows riders and for me to bring my truck home (Houston). I want solo OTR long haul stuff. Hope to get my tanker, hazmat, and want to pull anything but a flatbed. I am a Peterbilt fan so hopefully I can get in a 386/387 or even a 587 ha ha yeah right. I am looking at Stevens, Swift,Werner, Schnieder.
Any professional advice will be great. Thank you all for your support. -

the cheer leader that started this thread now has 2 years experience.the newness has worn off. he either wrecked or moved up to a good job.
in this wrecked economy the rookies think there is a boom with these large companies hiring every one and sending them to boot camp.
what happened to last years crop of drivers?
all these training companies are members of the american trucking assn.they have their meetings and they all have the same plan. they covet the mexican truckers but you will do for now..
you slam the driver that lasted 15 years and ran hard on truck stop food and what have you til his health failed.
try to last 2 years have and listen.
your career path is to get experience. stay healthy. learn enuff to be a real independant or get a good job so you can be home with your family and have a real life.
put down those recruiter broshures and read landline magazine so you know the truth
