i was driving in nc with the national guard and we were told to weigh through the scales on i-40/85. i stopped the convoy and told the weighmaster military is exempt from weighing and he tried to put us out of service for refusing to weigh. any put from anyone? i called my 1SG and then bn commander the guy was in hot water for stopping our convoy on official business.

military are exempt from all DOT, to include HOS and wieght limits........convoys are stictly off limits to scales (3 or more vehicles)
just like state trucks except with a cooler paint job

he said he had the authority to put us out of service and plus inspect our trucks. we had well over 20 vehicles in our convoy and plus we were hauling rocket pods for MLRS weapon system so we were all armed at the same time. im a e7 and i know the regulation myself. what do people think they can do when they know they do not have the authority to do this.
