today my tnd 500 was lagging 1.5 miles behind.. I turned it off and back on... hoping to get it to work.. instead it comes on with "insert sd card". I know others have had this issue but I don't have time to sift through all the posts. Is there a fix? I tried pushing the reset numerous times.. still wants sd card.

If you have a Mac and do not have a MS shell to run the TND Dock, E-mail me with the serial number off the back of your TND.

You will need a least a 1gb or 2gb SD macro SD card.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Where are you? Are you anywhere near us on the I-5 today or this weekend?

Update: I'm loading all of the new goodies on your unit now. See you tomorrow.

In the T5B, the external SD card is 4gb and contains the NaviMaps and Navivoices. This is accessed through the external SD slot on the side.

In the T5C, the internal flash was upgraded from 2gb to 4gb and the NaviMaps and NaviVoices are now on the internal flash. The external SD slot is active in that your computer will see it as an actual external drive. Other than that, the external SD Slot is not called too or used by the operating system that the TND uses.

In the T7C, it is the same as the T5C except the T7C uses a micro SD card.

Putting a macro or Micro SD into the external slot of a T5C or T7C will not improve its performance.

    Thanks,
    Mark

what can i do to solve the hanging up problem on this t5b,,,most of the time it will not calculate a route until you enter the turn by turn screen and manually cycle thru pages until it give you the old checkerd flag icon,,had a t5c and killed it somehow,,(or it just committed suiced,,when i traded it in i got this one in exchange,,,have installed all updates from tnd dock and still slow and prone to hang-ups,,t5c did not do this often,,what if anything can b done with this t5b,,,love the tnd but not happy with this replacement version.

Whom replaced your T5C with a T5B? Rand will always replace a like item.

Make sure in your preference\route settings you have all set to allow. This is a known issue, but June 1st version 1573 will be available and this issue has been fixed.

If you connect your TND to your computer and use "computer" under your start menu, you will see an external drive with a Navi Folder. If you double click on the Navi folder you will see a Logs folder. Send me the files under the logs folder please.

    thanks,
    Mark
