Within the next month will be making a major change and heading back OTR with Con-way Truckload. This isn't my first go around. Been here 18 years, last 3 have been in the office, but I reckon its time to go back. I think sometimes its where I belong, even though inside I can predict the damage it will do. Will see, and here is where I will chronicle it all.
Back on the Road, with Con-way Truckload

Good luck, Mustang. So you've worked for Con-Way in some capacity the entire time? That's impressive. I look forward to reading your posts.
You know, this is a company I really wanted to hire on with, but I believe they don't CDL school grads anymore. Too bad, as they seem to be a good company. -
Good luck Mustang. I've been in trucking for 32 years, both behind the desk and behind the wheel. I understand where you're coming from, I think you'll be glad to be back behind the wheel again. Stay safe.
mustang970 Thanks this. -
Yep, in the last 26 years have been with 2 employers, USAF and CFI/Conway.
I tell you what, it is only my prediction, but as the economy turns around, and freight picks up, which it is, I would suspect it won't be to long b4 they start the training deal again. It was successful before.andrew5184 Thanks this. -
Stumbled across a picture of my first truck 5676 1989 T600A flat top 350 cummins 9 speed. #### thing couldn't get out of its own way up hill, but it would get after it on the flats.

I wondered about that, too. I plan to attend school in September, so we'll see what they're up to then.
Thanks for sharing the picture of your old truck! -

Just came across your post, Mustang. My last trucking job was with Conway and I really LOVED that company! I only drove for them for a year, though, quit in March '10 and decided it was time to get off the road permanently. Do I regret it? YES! I miss it, especially since I did drive for Conway. Who knows, if this office job doesn't work out, I may see you out there soon! They even sent me my vacation pay which I was not expecting! Never had one payroll problem with them that didn't get rectified immediately! Good luck, Mustang!

Getting the house packed up.
Then load up the U-haul
Have 3 days to finish this project, train my replacement, and head off to Laredo.
Unload, doubt that only the most important things, such as the tvs, computers and routers get unpacked.
Wife starts her new job the 14th, so there can't be any delays.
I expected to be hitting the road the same time.
Have a truck there, hope it is clean.
If not will be cleaning instead of unpacking
Previous driver was didn't smoke, but not sure of his cleaning habits yet.
Been trying to sell or give away anything we have not used in a while.
Made some moving money, and the D.A.V. got a Suburban load of clothes, still yet the garage is full.
Just to think I used to be able to move with a with 2 duffel bags and a box.
No turning back now -
i need exact mileage reports if possible please. thanks.
2) i don't like your new logo and i don't like all the trucks painted the same. You may want to tell upper management about this. i especially don't like (and even sometimes become infuriated) at the new "logo" which could have been designed by an 8 yr old and probably took about 1 min to design.
i like the color coded paint schemes for the different regional divisions and i feel you all should go back to that.
