This is so. But on this end of the fence, I appreciate your efforts.

Has the influx really reached Conn. yet?

Thanks for all the input so far. Has anyone seen these Mexican truck drivers driving dangerously? What regulations do they not have to follow that you do? And how could we make it harder for them to bypass the check points?

One of my partners showed me a study that was done a few years ago where they ramndomly stopped an equal number of Canadian, American, and Mexican truck drivers. They put them through a series of inspections to include inspecting their trucks, ensuring they had the proper amount of rest, and questions about their training. 9% of the Americans failed, 8.4% of the Canadians failed, and only 6% of the Mexicans failed.

So from this survey it appears that American drivers are accually the most dangerous on the road. Does that sound right to you? Do you have any examples or personal experiences that would support or contradict this?

    Thanks again

That data may be right for Mex drivers than drive the 'better' rigs and are driving further up north. I drive the U.S. Border quite a bit and see some pretty old, run-down rigs crossing and going only to Tucson, or some other 'border' city. Some ppl call Tucson a 'glorified border town,' since a large Hispanic 'service' population for the retirees and snow-birds exists here!!

It IS worrying to consider how it'll effect U.S.driver's income. Mexican drivers can live comfortably on a fraction what we make. Sounds good till you factor in that Mexican licensing for truck drivers is simply paying a little more. No testing, no background, no schooling. You simply BUY it. And While Mexican trucks are supposed to measure up.... Anyone who'se been to Laredo Tx. or similar border towns knows different. While our system's great, do you HONESTLY think companies will drop prices simply because they're paying a fraction to foreign drivers? It'd be a "do nothing" boost to their profit margin.
