Egh, it doesnt have to be offshore drilling, anywhere will do. It just sucks when stuff like this happens because you end up hearing the phrase, "I told you so!!"......

Always have been. Private businesses make profits. That's the entire motivation for one to start a business. If we want oil without open market sales, then the government would have to extract it themselves and supply refineries. That's really walking the line of communism/socialism.

    Ok ill move to canada.

Seriously though. Standard works but its a piece of ####. Why don't you go buy a cascadia instead of your w900? Cause its a piece of #### and the w900 isnt. Simple.

I hate canada. I could not ever ever ever live here. Lets see

Oh, you're a speeder? Then we'll crush your car!

(quebec) Oh, you dont speak french? F U!

Everything is SOOO FAR APART. And the US is bad enough in that regard, LOL.

The truckstops SUCK. Im at a fifth wheel right now and i walked a mile to a restaurant to eat last night because fifth wheel's food prices suck.

The ######### definitely are. Ruining our image and all.

And what the hell is with the idling at 1500 rpm?!

Would you go out of your way to meet someone here you DONT LIKE? I doubt it. Yeah, someone here might want to punch you in the face, but do you want to meet them? I doubt it. But all I really meant, is there is absolutely no reason to act mature on the internet. You can dissapear today and be someone else tomorrow. Hard to do that in real life. In real life you eventually get to the point where you walk in somewhere, everyones like, HEY ITS THAT #######!

    Why?

There are too many reasons to count...

And that is one of the biggest ones!

Ahhh yes....Good old Canada! Another socialist utopia.

That's one of the things I LOVE about the U.S.A....Go to Europe for a while, Everything is so crammed together and there's no room to breathe.
That's one of the reasons that they have all of those stupid lookin' trucks over there, Because there's no room to get around in a nice comfy american style conventional.

Another fine reason not to go into Canada.

I don't know what that's about! I'm sittin' at the Frazier Park, Ca. Flyin' J right now and the weather is as perfect for sleeping as it can get. I parked way out in the back where there were no trucks parked and I nosed in and put my Breezeway window screens in and went to bed. When I woke up this morning I have one idiot on the left of me with his idle set so high that it sounds like he's going down the highway and every time the fan cycles on it sounds like a stinkin' airplane takin' off! (But at least he backed in)

The other idiot is nosed in and has big stupid looking straight pipes that look like trash cans mounted on either side of his cab and he's on high idle too...

    I'll never understand these morons!

But all of you can thank these losers for the idle restrictions that we all have to deal with these days because years ago if you saw a truck idling when it was parked for the night it was because it was too hot to sleep without the A/C on (if you even had A/C) or too cold to sleep without heat...Other than that they would generally be shut off unless there was a mechanical problem that prevented you from shutting it down.

These days I think it because they are too lazy to reach down and turn the key more than once or twice a week!

    No, That would be stupid...
That being said, There are not too many here that I would not like to meet (There are a couple though) and I have in fact gone out of my way a time or two to meet some people from the site.
But I usually get along with everyone unless I choose not to for some reason...And I sometimes do choose not to.

It might be fun...It might be interesting and It would be educational.

I don't necessarily agree with that...There are plenty of reasons to act mature in any form of communication...Not the least of which is to have what you say be taken seriously and to earn the respect of your peers, Be it here or in the real world.
There are plenty of people on this site that have differing opinions and yet even when I disagree with someone, If they present themselves in a respectable way, They will earn my respect regardless of the fact that our opinions vary from one anothers.

Think about it...If someone on this site never says anything that can be taken seriously, Do you pay much attention to their posts?
I don't...I'll either ignore them or put them on the ever handy ignore list!

On the CB...If some idiot just babbles and talks ####, Do you engage him in conversation? Or do you turn the volume down until he's out of range?

Those are just two examples, In either one of those cases if the individual is knowledgable or interesting to communicate with, You engage them and have an interesting conversation...Don't you?

Even if you dissagree with someone all the time they can be interesting to talk to and sometimes you might even learn something you didn't know...Imagine that!

Sure you can...But after a while it's gotta suck to be that guy that no one knows and no one likes...And it's gotta suck to know that you're such a jerk that you always have to hide yourself from everyone in order to keep from getting punched in the face!

True that! But it's a big world and there are lots of places to hide from those that you have alienated in your travels...

But still if you act like a jerk all the time on the internet and the CB or any other form of annonymous communication, It's probably because you are a jerk in real life and that is something you can't hide for very long!

Funny you should mention "socialism", since in a previous post you state:

And why do you think "gas" (little to do with crude prices, and nothing to do with the price of gas in the US, btw) is low in those countries?

Price and distribution controls by generally socialistic governments.

Lots of oil in Alaska, but does fuel still cost a quarter a gallon up there?

What was the funny part. The two quotes are factual, and support each other. Those countries have the government controlling everything and they supply themselves and sell off the excess on the open market. Gasoline is also a commodity traded on the open market BTW and is directly tied to crude prices as it is the raw material needed to make gasoline. That statement you made about gas having little to do with crude is like saying home additions have little to do with the price of wood and nails.

You act like its an "american" thing, and it would be "unamerican" to get rid of standard. You do know it's english, right? And England for the most part doesnt even use it anymore. Theres a reason! Of course, I'm glad we for the most part have not partially converted to metric as bad as they did....I guess they have most bridges marked in feet and inches and most trailers marked in metric, LOL....of course, one time I came up to a bridge with metric low clearance signage (in downtown Montreal) that was not as tall as my truck..and i still managed to not hit it.. So i guess they have the same issues with steering wheel holders we do...
    Yeah...exactly.

Hell, you probably couldn't even bobtail your truck down some of the roads they drive tractor trailers on. Did you see the new euro trailers with electronic rear steering? Haha. Anyway, really, I like the US, I like the wide open spaces (which means theres room that i dont have to live somewhere like NYC...), but Canada is just..extreme. Ever driven the 401 (ontario) to aut 20 (quebec)? Almost all of the population of the country lives just off that road. and that road is about like 80 in illinois and iowa.. :)

Hell, the capital. of the country is just off that road too, along with the biggest hellhole I've ever been to (centreville Montreal)
Hahahaha, I'm never going to admit to another trucking company that i have a passport unless theyre going to pay me...A LOT extra for going.

I was applying for schneider tanker division yesterday...it said i was required to have a fast and twic card. FAST is for going to canada, #### that. I closed the page and never looked back..haha.

Really? I thought they idled those trucks all the time back then. But atleast it wasnt at 1500+ RPM....

    Exactly.
Hell, I've met a couple of people at this site by accident lol.

Let me guess. Fun to beat someone up? Educational to teach them to not be dicks by beating them up? ;)

I agree. However, the internet amplifies immaturity. Someone who might just be a little immature in real life, gets on the internet being a major dick wad.

People do it all the time though.

It is definitely a small world, mister.

If it was a big world, I wouldn't have re-encountered other drivers who are still driving that i have lost contact with as much as i have.

Just trying to understand the point your trying to make, if you even have one.

On the one hand, you point to a socialistic system where natural resources are heavily regulated and priced for the population of the producing country - a very "anti-capitalist" view.

And then spout about the "dangerous line" of socialism.

Gas prices are effected by a far more complex set of variables, such as refining capacity, transportation, and demand for other petroleum products such as plastics and chemicals ... so yes, comparing the price of "gas" in "BF Egypt" to the general price of crude -or- gas in the US - then trying to formulate an argument for how more domestic production will somehow make gas "cheaper" here ... is out in left field.

And BTW, Fuel is about 40 cents more per gallon in Alaska then my hometown. There's a lot more oil in Alaska than Georgia.
