That is when we usually get the salt loads out of Cutler Magner. I have never been there when the weather is nice.

I'm stealing my hubby's login on this thing for this post.

My hubby has been with Roehl for a year and a half. My husband is a regional driver. He's home every 6.5 days-ish - depending on freight. We're very happy with the company. For those of you complaining about the micromanaging - keep this in mind - The company also has to make money. There are ways that they achieve this. One is by making sure you stay on route. There are people whose JOB is to complete your routes in a way that is profitable for the company. If the company doesn't make a profit then guess what - no jobs! The same thing for MPG's. Now that I'm done with that thought process - let me tell you how it is from a wife's end.

He went to training at the beginning of December 2008 and they got him home before christmas. While he was in evo 1 (I think - might have been evo 2) I was up near Marshfield with my two VERY small children, two cats, extremely large dog, plus my mom's two cats to help her out with her business and getting back on her feet while she was in the hospital for major surgery. It was supposed to be a week - maybe a week and a half of helping her out. It lasted over a month. Anyway - about two weeks in my hubby was due for his home time while he was passing though Marshfield and asked could he take his hometime there and explained the situation. The company asked HIM if he wanted to take some time off! And they've been good about things like that since then as well (he declined but the fact that they offered - and let him take his home time there instead was AMAZING in my book seeing as technically he'd been with the company for two weeks of training).

He's been pretty happy with the company since he got there. It's just a matter of following the rules. If you can handle that, then chances are, you'll be happy. It's just like any other job. You have rules.

As far as the micro managing goes....Roehl is the only company I have heard this complaint about. And as a former driver there, have witnessed. It's funny how tons of other companies on hear are making money without hounding there drivers. And I love it when they want u to avoid the toll roads and have u drive 80 miles extra to do so,plus with an added 70 stop lights. Then they wanna pay the miles,as if u drove the toll road.
I know a current driver there that constantly has to argue with his dispatcher about mpg. He has had 2 week periods where he has been stuck in the NE pulling 40,000+ loads the whole time in the mountains. He was told that he should be able to maintain the same mpg's pulling heavy loads up mountains as he would running the flat midwest states. To me that is a no brainer! That is completely ignorant to think u would have the same mpg's. I think roehl is just greedy! Just my 2cents LOL!!

As a current driver for Roehl I can tell you this is true. I took a load from Marathon City, WI to Grinnell, IA a few weeks ago. I asked if I could go the quick way (I-39 south to 151 south to I-80 west.) Fleet manager said no since it was an extra 48 miles. Well next time I'm taking that way cause the way they had me take took forever and with a heavy load and all the stop and go and hills my mpg was around 5.5, but all Roehl cares about is what is the shortest way on the map. Not the quickest.

Another great example. I'm sure u used more fuel doing it the Roehl way. Then they will blame u for it costing more money. Hope they don't for ur sake!

I did the math and I would have saved money going the extra 48 miles. I hope I get that load again cause I'm going my way. Not their way through over 20 towns. I do like it when they forget to send routing though. That just happened on a run from WI to PA.
