I have not seen too many overweight flatbedders, so the chance of the moon is greater for the box haulers!:biggrin_25522:

I may have been dumb enough to go to prime, but I was smart enough to get out of there when I seen that goat rope....:biggrin_2559:

What is the procedure for a new driver coming on to get into the L/O program? Do the lease guys on this board recommend it? Do they keep the lease drivers as busy as the company drivers? Are the line haul rates good enough right now for leasing to be a good option? Does PRIME run out west much?

Hey there fellow Prime drivers.... U2, IP and Sazook... and if I forgot anyone else, my apologies.... Well I did it. I called Prime and spoke to Sheryl..... Asked my questions about my background, explained the situation and she told me all seems OK. Good news! I went online, filled out the application as requested and she'll get back to me in a couple of days. So if all goes to plan, I should hopefully be approved soon and on my way to Springfield as I need to obtain my CDL permit and all. Unless they do the CDL training out of PA?

Anyways, thanks everyone for their opinions, candor, etc..... I looked at all my options and felt Prime was the way to go. Spoke to several truck drivers at the TS's up here in Maryland and saw a few Prime drivers, a few Swift guys, 1 Stevens guy, a Schnieder, and a Central Refrigerated....well Prime seemed to have the most happy drivers. They never gave me their names to get a referral bonus or anything like that. One Prime guy even bought me a lunch to sit down and pick his brain. Not too shabby. I wish I would've gotten his truck # to repay him once I am on the road. Well I'll keep you all posted as to what transpires. Happy Truckin!

Good luck to you Mav... just glad you didn't let these naysaying con-artists who post on here sway you into a poor decision. Despite the bad press, things are going very well at Prime, and we're all running and making money.

    Thanks IronPony,

Yeah, I hear you on the naysayers..... Honestly though, every company big or small has their problems. I am not going to let a few disgruntled employees ruin my chances at a great career.

However, I am going to use advice that I've read on here if I get a horrible CDL instructor or trainer. I will be very open and communicative with my FM and everyone else for that matter. I always keep an open mind and I am a firm believer that YOU get out of what YOU put in.

Thanks and see you on the road hopefully soon.

BTW... Any pointers on what to ask the CDL instructors? Also, I guess I get my CDL permit thru MO and my CDL thru MO and then change it over to my permanant residence?

IP is right on with this post. I am a L/O at Prime, and I am making really good money and am very happy. The vast majority of guys at Prime are happy and profitable. The company is growing, and there are plenty of loads to run for everyone right now... they are running me ragged, but I am making great money. Experiences vary though, for whatever reason. You can't please everyone all of the time.
