You've held a job for 5 yeas in Oregon. Why are you giving it up?
If you're making anything over $12 an hour, I would not advise coming to Central. you're going to be seeing $14 an hour if you're lucky, before tax.
Get an inverter installed first thing, it's going to run you at least $100. And I hope you can live without your CPAP for the first 4 weeks on a truck, because there is no promise your trainer will have an inverter so you can run it.
And if you HAVE To have it, which you probably do, you need to find ut what Central will do if you're off it. They'll most likely take you off a truck and tell you goodbye. You are probably better off staying with your current job.jservant Thanks this. -
I see your factoring in between 2000 and 2500 a week for milage, which is a good thing. Most people figure they'll get their 3000 a week, and you won't, not right on your own truck. And, with Central, you'll see a number of weeks where you won't be anywhere close to 2500. The magic system they use is pretty random, and all depends on where you are, when you're there, who's your DM, and how the planner of the area is feeling.jservant Thanks this.

You ever try the Chinese buffet there? Despite being out in the middle of nowhere, it's actually very good. And cheap.

I don't know how ya'll manage this solo driver stuff day after day. All I can figure is that you've been doing it long enough to get in the groove.
I've been solo since last Friday, my co-drv's mother landed herself in the hospital, so my co-drv took off to be with her. As we're not married, I couldn't take off too, so I had to be solo. took a load south into Cali, then up to West Valley, and now I'm home, waiting to deliver tomorrow. Then I can pack it up, and head up to see my 'mother in law" who is finally out of the hospital.
If you were in WVDC Tuesday afternoon, I probably saw you, although I wasn't feeling social enough to go hunting people other than my boss and the lunch guys. -

Oh yeah.. That chinese food is pretty good.. It was like 12.50 for me and my lady. The laundry mat is expensive tho.. 6.50 a wash and dry.. That's out rageous.. But they do have a publis rest room.. So saves me from my morning look and walkin into wally world..
To get in on this subject.. It seems a lot of folks give up half decent jobs to come here or to trucking in general.. Because they think they'll break the mold.. Get that 3k a week or that they avg 2k a week.. In all reality.. For what we put up with.. We shouldn't turn our wheels for less than 1.50dpm.. Ya know? That job is a cake walk at home when you compare it to the 4 wheelers who are not afraid to drive into us because they'll win the law suits, the rediculous attitudes of other new drivers and veterans alike, the poor food and facilites we see.. And then the pure time at shippers... Unless your in love with trucking.. Usually the job at home is more worth it.. Because within a few months... A lot of people return to that job anyways... -
DM: Your profile picture is awesome! My wife says you show talent for photography
Looks like a rest area, where did you take the shot?

There is a drop yard of sorts in Milwaukie OR we share with Titan Foods. I live in SW WA so PDX hometime is of personal interest. I have been able to get there however irregularly. I think that is a DM issue verses availability. There are dedicated runs to and from SLC, but those will be hard to get. The folks that have them seem pretty satisfied where they are. The yard in Auburn is close to the Giant Mall and the Walmart.jservant Thanks this.
