I actually PM'd a forum member about this, but in afterthought, why not ask everybody ? thats what the forum is for right ? If your not comfortable talking money , you certainly do not have to answer !
I don't want to know how much you make, but what i do want to know is this :
Realistically, how much can a new driver at Millis expect to NET (take home) every week ?
I realize it will never be the same..but if i follow the rules and am a good boy, im interested to know what I can expect to make "take home" on a weekly basis.
Thanks !

Depends on the miles and which pay package you select. From everything I have seen and heard at Millis - miles are there if you want them. I would imagine 600 to 700 a week is not out of the question at first. Plus you get the milage bonus after 2K miles up to 3K+ which can add up to 4 cents a mile. So really depends on you. If you want to be home every other weekend, then dont count on making too much they say.

I am hoping you are right..that would be perfect to start out at. I am hoping it's not like $300.00 a week..I mean thats what I get paid at Wal_Mart ! I dont expect to get rich. but I am hoping for a living wage the first coupl of years. And 300.00 a week ( paid every 2 weeks) is NOT a living wage.

if you take straight pay you should be able to make around 400 to 500 pretty easily now if you per diem you will make less some where around 350 to 450 a week on average.

I can tell you from my experience at Millis.
I was on per diem. I averaged 2800 to 3200 miles per week. I tried to go out on a Tuesday and go home on a Thursday staying out 16 days.
I tried to maximize my miles for 3 week of the month. I averaged 2800 to 3200 miles those weeks and I always logged legal. There is no overtime sotrying to run more has diminishing returns. Its just not worth it.
I netted $800 to $1000 on the full 7 day weeks. On the short weeks it was half that. It all averaged out to about $775 per week or $3100 per month.
I did not take the health benefit (covered by wife's) and no other company deductions. If you do it will effect your take home pay a lot.
A lot of drivers think that they have to push hard and squeeze all the miles out that they can. I think the better way is to drive legal, don't complain and take what you get. In the long run you will be treated better and trusted more. Your manager will treat you better. If you approach it like this you will be under less self imposed stress.
Don't forget that you will be a safer driver if you take it easy and in my case that translated to a bonus check that netted $500 to $600 each quarter and a year end bonus of around $700. That's around $3000 for the year.
Don't live pay check to pay check. Plan your year and budget on what you think you can average per week or month, whatever you prefer.
I hope this helps and good luck.Zangief, Blue Diamond and banjer picker Thank this. -
