Does anyone know the exact routine for the exercises that cannot exceed your maximum heart rate? The ones they do day 1? I want to practice so I don't go home over something silly

The first test they do is the 12" step for one minute. The pace is a steady one and they tell you at what pace they want you to do it at. I practice for 2 minutes at home. I was told by Schneider when I did the test there (when I was at Roehl they were not doing these tests) that the step test gets many people. Also the lifting the 60lbs from table to floor then back to table 3 times is another one. Practice slow deep breathing through out the exercises.

Found this site, exactly what and how much of each exercise.

To my way of thinking you have made a good choice.I drove for Roehl on my last driving job and found them to be way better than average.A couple of things to keep in mind, when you are first starting out you are not gonna get choice runs til you have proven yourself. That is the same with any job you enter into.I went with Roehl as an experienced driver and only had a couple of issues with them. Both were cleared up by phoning my fleet mgr. and having a brief discussion with her.I always had plenty of time on my trips to make delivery on time, and my next dispatch would be started after a good nights rest, which you will find out means a lot.Anyway good luck to you at Roehl.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Thanks, now I HAVE TO get my heart rate down. I can't eceed 164 during any of the tests. Anyone have suggestions?

Start exercising LIGHTLY,now. Just some regular walking, with some jogging mixed in at timed intervals. Something like 1min. of jogging every 20min or so. Enough to get to a regular heart rate during the testing and not exceed your target heart rate.

I just completed SAGE's truck driving school in Yadkinville, NC and Roehl was one of the carriers that sent a recruiter to talk to us. He was pretty straightforward as recruiters go, and their Out-of-Service % according to SaferSys was under 10%. That's pretty good compared to the others and the national average is 22%.
As for exercise, I've been behind a computer for 10 years now and did little else so I needed to get exercising on a more regular basis. A friend turned me onto the "Couch to 5k" program. You can find out more at C25K dot com. After completing Week 1, I brought my dystolic rate (lower number on BP reading) down from 90 to 84.
The program works like misterG said, walking and running in timed intervals. Week 1 starts with a 5-minute brisk walk warmup. Next, you run 60-seconds and then slow down to a 90-seconds brisk walk. Repeat this run\walk set 8 times and then finish with a 5-minute slow walk cool down. The whole circuit takes less than 30 minutes and you can do it around your neighborhood or on the treadmill. There are even links on their website for free podcasts that tell you when to run and walk so you don't have to keep looking at your watch. GOOD LUCK! -
good thing they dont do that test to current drivers... 1/4 would be gone

Don't know if anyone heard this, but I was told they no longer do the step test. All the others are still there, but they changed that. At least that is what Bethann said to me.
So I'm in my hotel room now. Waiting for the the laker game and then getting some rest! Going to take off right now for a ride so I don't get lost in the morning...
And so it begins.... will post more later! -
Hindsy,
best of luck to you.
Let me know how things go.
I'm starting my 2nd week to training tomorrow down here in Florida.
Roehl is still my first choice as of now.
I will be going to orientation in Ellenwood Ga July 6th.
